Really enjoyed this video Nicola. What a brilliant idea for an event. The heats looked small enough to get a good space and big enough to have some competition. Hope your back is feeling better 😀

Thanks Rachel, it's a great event. The format is exactly as you describe which makes it super exciting! Back isn't 100% but it's almost there thanks 🤞😊

Wow some of those runners took just over half as much time - you were going for it (not) but still fast - they must have flown! Thanks for sharing.

I absolutely love watching super fast runners going for it over a short distance! It's incredible 😱😃

That looks a brilliant event. I wish we had something like that in my city. 4m25s - wow 😮

It's worth asking around clubs to see if there is. There's several in Leeds but they tend to be pretty low key affairs that not everyone would know about. I'm not sure a mile has made it to the masses as a race distance in the same way that a 5km has. It's a great (but super hard) distance to race! And yeah... 4:25... We can dream 😜🤣

Nicola, it always make me so happy watching your videos because you have this relentless positive aura around you. We also had a Summer Mile recently. I was never brave enough to run in it because I am scared to have pressure to run fast. But I want to try at some point. When I am writing today, you have probably finished your Dragon Coastal race in Wales. It was so hot today, I was wondering how you were getting on. (I know what it's like to hurt your back, when I hurt mine, I couldn't even bend down to put my socks on, it was so frustrating.) I spotted Halifax Harriers vest in the last heat, wow they came all the way from Yorkshire. (Oh he came first too. Sorry, I am just commenting as I am watching.) P.S: Also, you are like a proper reporter here, better than a sports journalist because you take part in the sport too.

Awww thank you 😃 I'm always happy when I'm running 🥰 After this summer mile I totally understand about the pressure to run fast. There wasn't any actual pressure from anyone but it was ridiculously hard to run my own race! It's only pressure I put on myself that I imagined was there because of the situation so I totally get it! The Dragon was awesome... But yes it was crazy hot! I've never run in anything like that before so doing 50 miles in it was definitely interesting! 🙃

Great to see such a lovely communal spirit and support Nicola, and all over a very underrated distance. And the Mars bar - finally a snack we can agree on 😄

Lol... The chocolate bar decision is key! A mile is such an interesting distance isn't it! You're right though, it's definitely underrated 🙃

Wonderful video Nicola. I’m assuming the was before teasing Al with your ice cream sundae 😉😂 Hope your injuries aren’t too bad and don’t hold you back for too long. As always take care.

Lol... This was indeed before 🤣 bless him. We just spoke and he's so hot, there's midges and he's had too much sun and I'm like... We had THE BEST ice cream sundae 😜🤣 🍨

I’ve really enjoyed some of the mile races I’ve done (Golden Stag in London). That’s on a track in Finsbury Park, so has a bit of a different vibe to this, by the looks of things.

All these guys casually running a mile faster than I have ever run a kilometre. So impressive! I’ve signed up for the Westminster mile on two occasions but never yet done it for various reasons. One day!

Thank you, yes you're right. Super frustrating at the time but worth it for the long term. I'm just thankful it was an injury where the advice was to make sure you stay active! I can make peace with gentle exercise 😃
