I am a student who is learning Java with Eclipse IDE for Java Developer. When I swith Eclipse IDE to JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA for work reason, the wonderful features shocked me. I have never found such a excellent IDE to code with Java and Java Server Pages. I love it! For some reason, I could not see the main toolbar next to "IntelliJ IDEA" on the top most portion. If you face the same issue, just press ALT + the key for whatever option you want to look into. Should be basic knowledge for everyone, I assume, though. I'm on Arch Linux if anyone wants to know.

in case you still have that problem, go to file -> Settings -> Appearance & Behavior -> Appearance and select a theme in the dropdown menu. If you got a black screen, then the selected theme should be "darcula"

This is the cost of using an IDE with a lot of features. If you want speed you use a text editor with IDE like features and build your programs some other way, like through the command line
