I converted two British OO scale locos to look more like New Zealand locos for part of Keegan's 2024 Christmas present.
The first one started life as a Bachmann 04 class Drewry loco. It's been converted to look like a NZR Ds loco, No 202 (now preserved at Steam Inc in Paekakariki, New Zealand.
The second one was a Heljan 05 class Hunslet loco. It's been converted to look like a NZR Dsa loco, No 686. Several of these locos are now preserved around the country.
I'm not a rivet counter, so when I model, I just go off photos. As long as they look similar to the original, I'm happy. You can easily spot things different to the prototype if you look carefully.
