Nice. I love my Wilesco D40. I want to build a crane for mine with. Some Erector Set parts. I also have a Mamod road roller. Oddly the Mamod runs smoother.

That sounds good. I find that mamods wear alot better than wilescos. With mamods you can clean the faces and the run beautiful. With wilescos once the valves wear down steam starts to get past them. But if you keep them well lubricated then they will be fine for a few more years.

@@thestandardfour0699 I can believe that. My Mamod is from the 1960's. Bought off Ebay, it arrived with the plate of the mating surface physically bent. I bent it back close to straight then finished with a Dremel. Final sanding was a small length of wood and 1200 grit. Runs like New! Now after a bit of work on my 1980's Wilesco "D40" I found the nut on the Piston Rod was just touching the High Pressure Steam Pipe. A slight adjustment and it is quieter & smoother. But Mamod still wins.

@@donaldvincent if kept nice, like yours, the mamod engines always run really well, however wilescos are more like the reL thing. But to work on mzmods take the win.

Why rush, let the boiler pressure build up enough and then you start.

Do it like the bigg'uns, get just enough pressure to have her turn over then keep her running slow while pressure builds up. I know on the real ones this is to draw the fire through the tubes but I like to have them as realistic as possible. The models run very fast and I'm stickler for realism
