That's such a sweet story about Callie's love of 'fishin!' Watching little darlings connect the dots in their young lives and coming up with their own magical philosophies and explaining them to their mommy and daddy are treasures of the heart to be savored in baby books to be relived decades later! Keep notes so you don't overlook a single one! God bless the workings of His little creations!

I remember going fishing with my dad back in the '70's. It was great fun, sometimes we'd even build a small fire by the stream and cook them. He took 3 of us fishing to keep from scratching chicken pox, this was before the vaccine. The man was a saint.

Be sure to tie that pole with a long rope. When my kids were little, they lost many poles because as they cast, they would accidentally let go. Then the tears flowed... You'll thank me later $$. Lol lol

When I was two, my family went fishing. My Dad had an old aluminum boat, 7 or 10 feet long. Someone caught the first fish, and I started yelling, "Fish in the boat! Fish in the boat!" We went on many fishing trips as I grew up, and I loved curling up in the front and singing as we boated about. When my granddaughter was about that age, my brother and I took her out in that same boat. She loved it. She even curled up and sang!

The hardest part with kids is teaching them why its called fishing and not catching. 😂 Seriously though, if you use very small hooks and real worms you can usually catch the little fish near shore. Not hardly even a slider bite but fun when they were getting bored or frustrated.

I had a broody hen last summer and a lot of extra eggs. She is a big girl so I made a nice nest with about 50 eggs! lol I swear when she saw that pile it broke her broodiness instantly. I thought I’d at least try lol😅 🤷‍♀️ Watching her see the pile and then walking away and refusing to look at it was one of the funniest things I’ve seen a chicken do. If she actually hatched that pile, that would’ve been a GREAT story. 😆

Living out East is a chore with the animals. We have 10 to 35 degrees winter morning but mostly dry. Guess that is why so much dairy and beef production in West Texas Panhandle. My neighbor has a diary with 100 thousand cows milking...A 10,000 a day pork plant and 5,000 a day beef plant close by.

I love the "song of the chickens" We had 200 chickens when I was growing up. I loved them. It's sad, but most folks have no idea what an egg with big, tall, orange yolks tastes like. They will never have a clue what a home grown chicken tastes like, either. So sad.

I see many cattle /cow farmers put blankets on their calves in winter so the calves don't have to use all their calorie intake on just keeping warm and put on weight and size. If their water freezes, then they are definitely cold in there. Might be worth a test try to make them more comfortable as well. Also throwing in more wood shavings on top of old wet shavings doesn't stop the humidity level and humidity and urine fumes makes it feel colder and are tough on the lungs.

Andrew, we love to watch your family working together the way you do. We wonder, though, why you leave your barn doors and other wood structures in such desperate need of paint. Surely, it would be wise to preserve those important structures. We know you are very busy, but it would not take that long. Just our thoughts.
