I don't have any issues with chafing in any of these shorts at distances of less than 15km. Above 15km I use Gold Bond Friction Defense...no point in taking any chances. I used to use Vaseline but discovered that it can discolour the garments.

Should running shorts be see trough? Most of I've looked at are, and it seems you need to buy an under layer. Are there some that aren't?

Is there any special care when washing lined shorts? Just got my first pair.

I wash all my shorts at 30 degrees C (86 degrees F). They don't get covered in mud etc. very often and if they did I would brush it off before putting them in the wash. I don't put them in the dryer, I hang them up and let them dry naturally. On the more delicate, and more expensive ones, I put them in a wash bag to save them getting banged about in the washer. IO have not had any issues washing them this way.

Nice video - I've just moved to linerless after about 30 years of just running in 'all in ones'. Have seen path projects online - any issues/concerns with ordering from USA - pricing/delivery times ok?

Cheers John. I had no problems ordering or with delivery...I bought two pairs at $47 each. Then shipping was an additional $21.91. I then got an unexpected demand from FedEx for an additional $15 handling fee....and I think I may also have paid duty...will try and double check the invoices...the net result was that they became quite expensive to get hold of. Atryeu have a great online calculator that at least quantifies all of that before the product is shipped from Texas and it might be that Path Projects have adopted a similar system since the time I ordered. The shorts themselves are well made and very comfortable. If I was in the US I would buy more without hesitation...and even after all the additional charges the Graves short were well worth it...

John. I dug out the invoices… I paid an additional €20.76 in Import Duty and another €44.86 Import Tax… ouch! But will be running in them later …and will forget about the cost…

What do i buy as a beginner ?

First decide what you need to carry. I always carry a phone but you may have cellular on a watch etc. You probably need to carry house or car keys and I want a zipped pocket for that, though some shorts have a loop you can attach them to. I prefer the security of a zipped pocket. You may also need to carry gels, water, a mask etc. If it's your only pair you may need pockets for all of these, if you have more than one pair you might have a different pair for shorter races etc. I typically use a mix of lined and unlined. You can but a lot of shorts and liners on discount but I would only advise buying from a recognised running brand as chafing is less likely. I use Under Armour and Runderwear liners, I prefer the UA as I can get them with a phone pocket. There are lots of good over shorts from Path Projects and Janji. Brooks make a very good overall short that has a built in liner...the Sherpa 5" 2-in-1...I am going to make another shorts video in a few weeks and will include that...if you are only a beginner and planning to have one pair of shorts I would start there...Hope this helps...

Start with Decathlon. Cheap but excellent quality for the price. Very good for a beginner as anyway you don't need super high performance gear. Then you can try different lengths and types. Hit and miss - not only for shorts, by the way, could be any other gear. Would recommend medium length, linerless, with large enough pocket, for versatility, comfort, lightness and freedom.

Svetlin, it's the one thing I didn't get from Soar, but I keep thinking about them. I have about 17 different pairs and never found the perfect ones...I made a video about most of them. I am also hoping to review a pair by CimAlp so maybe I will get some

Funnily enough Svetlin, another comment came in my email but didn't appear on KZbin, anyway one of the reasons I didn't get any Soar shorts was their lack of pockets...which I have an obsession about. I think I will wait until they next update them and then get a pair and review them...
