I love your in-depth interviews. Clear and concise for those of us just getting into audio. Props on your sobriety!!! I have 14 years under my belt. The touring life definitely brings out the worst in some people, myself included.

I got to be on a super short run mixing a band supporting Pop Evil - which is where I got to meet Brian back in 2020 RIGHT before everything shut down. Such a gem of a human!

I don't get the stereo vocal double patch thing in my head. I double patch my vocal to the desk and pan it hard L / R but if I use a third channel of the same vocal panned C and reverse polarity it cancels 100% with the hard panned so why should it sound different / better .. I don't get it

I like this guy. I do wonder about how he mixes though. He mixes like if he were mixing in a recording studio. Placing sounds in a stereo mix works for his FOH position but would it work for a fan who is on the rail stage left or right? Is the engineer mixing for him or for the fan?
@aiRxShop8 ай бұрын
Depends on how big the venue is… with an arena you won’t mix them as widely.

I have so many questions about this 'stereo vocal' is there unique processing on the Left versus Right sides for this vocal input?

I posted an ITM concert on my channel from 2019... I'm assuming that this was the guy running the sound at that show. It sounded great, regardless. If he happens to see your video, and this comment, maybe he'd be interested to hear how it came across via phone and KZbin. It was recorded from behind the FOH booth. I'll have to watch again to see if I recognize him...

And don't forget if you buy the CD it doesn't suddenly disappear from the streaming service when there's a contractual debate.
