I don't know why this video made me so emotional. I'm totally new to running and sometimes during my run I feel so bored but I am also so motivated to do an official run. And my dream goal is to run a marathon. I love this video so much. I am German and Germans are often very serious and I loved the kindness of all the people in your Video. the supporters and the runners. I don't know if Germans are as kind as Americans in this kind of context, hyping everyone up even if they are not fast, especially the "slowe" runners - because in the end it just matters that you did it! Today on my run I passed two younger boys and I can swear they laughed about me, but who ran?? I did. I did it and they didn't and I didn't care that they laughed because I am overweight or slow or anything because I am moving my body and I am working towards my goals!

I ran Chicago just 3 weeks ago, my 12th...but let me tell you, in this video, in the beginning, when she says, "then the reality of marathon morning hit" I just about started crying. That is no joke. On my way to find parking in in downtown Chicago with lane closures, I was so nervous and freaking out and thinking, "What the hell am I doing?" That is such a special, powerful, and highly conflicted feeling. The look on her face says it all. What a great video. She really captures the excitement and emotions.

I've told a lot of people that if they can run a half, and commit to a bit of training, they can get through the Chicago Marathon with the crowd energy driving them! Always a fantastic time

I didn't see you but I was out there struggling running this one! This was my second Chicago, my fourth marathon and my worst time of all four. But I still LOVE this race! Love Chicago. Congratulations on an amazing finish!!

Thank you! I loved Chicago. Do you think it was the humidity that made it your worst time? It made it hard for me!

Erin I have to thank you for sharing your experience with us. I have been wanting to run this marathon and always been afraid of signing up and failing. Watching your experience has been so inspiring that I got emotional and now have decided to run it next year. Thank you so much! CONGRATULATIONS! 🥳🥳

Be aware that the Chicago Marathon has a time limit of six and a half hours. The New York City Marathon has a time limit of eight and a half hours -- and Chicago closes its finish line after the time limit, but the New York City Marathon does NOT close its finish line until the last runner finishes, even when it's 11:00 p.m. So NYC is the best marathon for a slower runner. (I have done both, and I am a slow runner.)

I am a slow runner, everything I watch people say long runs are their slow pace at 9 min. miles. My fast run is 11 min. miles. How long did it take you to finish the full marathon?

Congrats! Thanks for representing us average runners that go out to smash it and have a good time. I ran my first marathon this year in August and it took 5 hours and some change, and I was damn proud of myself, and it was an amazing experience. The marathon I ran was small and remote (pretty scenery but few spectators)-the energy of a big marathon like Chicago certainly looks like an experience!! Well done. ❤

Not funny. Not entertaining. There is training and preparation required before participating in a full marathon. Start with a shorter race. And try training ahead of time.
