Great chat with Karl! Master of the distance. Love that he doesn't complicate things. It's advice that anyone could implement to keep improving. Thanks Scott!

Happily retired from trail running but I'd still never miss a chance to sit and listen to Karl talk about WF100 for an hour. That really made my day.

I started running late in life age 46 , now I am 54. I pushed myself so I could try everything before I got too old. The information on your series is very helpful for me. Thanks

This was great. Thank you. I actually ran the 2009 race. Well back but paced by AJW.

Could you do one video on just best practices for family members who are crewing? This will be my first 100. My family has never done crewing and they don’t really know what to do. I’m trying to figure it out by watching videos like yours but it be great if you could do one video where you just talk about the best practices. Thank you.

I will be doing another video about final prep for the race and I will add some info about pacing/crewing.

I disagree regarding the course being easier now. The times would indicate that Bair Canyon and the course changes have made it more difficult. There hasn’t been anyone touch sub 20 since 2014, which didn’t include the dive and the plunge. Would love to debate

the level of competition has not been as strong as it once was. When Roes ran 1835 and I ran 1912, the Dive and Plunge were on that course, AND the final descent into Homestead down Lime Canyon was also nasty. Bair Canyon is steep, no doubt, but once you get over that, it's dirt road. NO ridge running on rattlesnake ridge either. Toughest course has the fastest times. Just my two cents, because I was there personally

@@12binger I can agree that nobody the level of you in your prime or Geoff in his has run Wasatch since the course change. You are both absolute legends. I think the more interesting data show the decrease in numbers of Crimson Cheetahs earned and percentage of finishers earning a Cheetah on the current course. Since your first Wasatch in 1996 the years with the least % of cheetahs have been the last 5 Wasatch at 2%, 3%, 3%, 4%, 3%. In terms of pure numbers of Crimson Cheetahs the last 5 years have averaged 6/ year with zero women under 24hrs. While from 1996-2016 it averaged 12/year and 14 F cheetahs total. While races like our beloved bear 100 saw a significant increase of wolverines earned during that same time frame as the number of participants increased. I know I’m a total nerd with less talent than most and this is all nerdy numbers, but I think the lack of cheetahs over the last 5 years would indicate the current course is the hardest iteration of Wasatch in the last 25 years.
