Ok, so first I want to thank you so much for video it gave me a good base of what I need to know for the exam I know your video was 2 years ago so since I just took the test today I want to give a heads up on a couple things I needed but wasn’t aware because it wasn’t even in the supply list biohazard bag, and makeup drape and and how to do a mummy mask totally caught me. I’m praying I passed because my instructor was giving me directions of what to do but since she didn’t say to map the brow I didn’t but I’m sure I should have anyway and I forgot to put the eye pads for the extractions I was so nervous as she watched me.

Thanks for the feedback, but I showed every step I did in the way that I was taught to! I passed my exam doing exactly this, so while there may be more than one correct way of doing things, my ways are correct!

She did no skin analysis hydration ? Conditions, type, elasticity, thickness, texture, sensitivity? They will ask you and that’s a huge part to leave out.

i went to school in rochester where they held the practical state board my teacher was one of the state board instructors and they all said the face shield is no longer required just a mask.

Can you please tell me when you took your state board exam if it was virtual or not many states are offering virtual testing?? I'm in Michigan and it's supposed to start in November and I can't wait so that we don't have to go to a testing location you can take it in the privacy of your own home. Have you thought about going back to get your instructors license and if not why?? Since it is student loan forgiveness I strongly suggest that you go forward

The New York State boards want you to use your fingers, not tools. Everyone I know has used store bought cotton pads, but I’m sure it’s up to you if you want to make your own!

I’m so sorry I just saw this, I was not asked about the skin type and I just used a random cream mask that I had. I recommend using something that is a different color than the mannequin’s skin so it stands out.

We were recommended in my school for it to be preferably light colored sheets with no patterns so it doesn’t necessarily need to be white

They read off instructions of which step to do next and what order to go in, but you’ll need to memorize the little details

Nope! The guidelines they give on the nys licensing website only require you to wear gloves right when going to wax the lip. And it is not required during cleansing either.
