marble hornets is a fucking masterpiece of an ARG tbh, everything about it's use of both the operator and displaying the psychological effects of both the drawn out exposure and dealing with how everything went down was just so damn interesting. i don't think anything quite comes close

Well what makes The Operator so interesting in Marble Hornets is how it is portrayed. In the literal sense The Operator is death. In the metaphorical it is a manifestation and physical representation of the mental illness that consumes the characters.

And the fact that the operator is in fact a metaphor for death, yet it can't kill on its own. It manipulates Alex into thinking that he's working against it.

Its about that characters more than Slender. He's just the key that unlocked the book. Its the same in EverymanHYBRID and TribeTwelve. It starts as a slender man mystery. And then, its suddenly about running from Alex. Trying to figure out who HABIT is and who the Corenthal kids were, what connection do they have to Vin, Ev, Jeff and Steph? Trying to tie together the amount of time travel shit that goes on in Noah's life. Slender is always in the background. Between Observer, HABIT, and Alex - Slender being in the background is very interesting, And I love it
