Why have this ugly, noisy hunk of plastic? When we can have a beautiful sttement in living room instead. 😃

Dude has some serious patience that I do not have. I would have used a standard bottle stand they sell on amazon, and 3d printed the interior piece with lots of small pores to hold vegetation. The focal point would be a bonsai tree at the bottom, and I would not drill any holes in glass, but invert the jar, and have everything run through a cork stopper, and a 3d printed return system instead of a filth collecting tray. He likely spent 200 hours on that, and I would not spend more than 4. Dude is a legend.

Silicone pro here, less is more. As long as you have a clean surface you'll get adhesion. To smooth, use water or weak alcohol solution like windex. It won't stick to your fingers, but I'd still recommend gloves. Surface area beats volume. Also, super glue will degrade in water and toxify it. Poly expanding foam also has less than wonderful qualities that make it one of my least favorite materials. You can use clear water wash resin and a uv light to set the bottom. The moss and the rocks in the bottom will also help with filtration. Fantastic project.
@wan2shuffle11 ай бұрын
I’ve known super glue gets weaker over time, but I’ve never heard of it toxifying water. I’m not finding anything on google either.
@wormyish11 ай бұрын
@@wan2shuffle only really relevant in food stuffs, it doesn't "toxify" it so much as dissolve in it over time and no longer make it safe for consumption. Silicone does not.

We put it in the garden and checked every day for signs of fairy residence but to no avail. In the end Nan reclaimed the swans and we thought that was why no fairies turned up. This is one of your best! I really like how the landscape continues outside the jar. In your videos, it would be great if you can also mention the living conditions of each plant and how you choose them to fit into areas that have different light, humidity etc?

This looks so nice. I would like to have a go at making something like this. It seems so creative and therapeutic. I think I found a new hobby.

@@jachin5177 thats exactly why i like watching this channel. Tanner is great at showing how simple it can be, and often how simple it should be for certain things to work. i love it haha

i'm only at 5:37, just after the smoothing of the silicone: I've seen few people use a guitar pick that has been attached to a stick or a pen and it seems really handy for projects like this!

Good idea. They make whats called "spoons" for doing it. I always just use my fingers as it gives the best results. Finish with a moist paper towel for perfect caulk joints.

Here I thought "I love this idea....I want to make one"! Then I watched how involved the process was and thought "Oh snap! I don't think I'll be making one of these anytime too soon"! Lol! Much respect 🙏 what a beautiful end result
