It would have to be Claire Maxted, but unfortunately that doesn't look possible unless you can get one done by Wednesday! How about a 5km handicapped by age grading?
@LisaHikes4 жыл бұрын
Run a 5k in unfamiliar roads/trails, without mapping a route ahead of time, nor looking at your watch. Estimate how far you've gone solely on time elapsed 😎
@TonyBarclayNI4 жыл бұрын
Whilst I cannot suggest an individual, perhaps an unusual challenge (like the backwards run): I am a visually impaired runner, why not try a 5k... blindfolded, guided by another runner, on streets/trails (NOT track, too easy), using a tether? I run ultras on road and trail, with around 4% vision (none in bright light) - I challenge the team to try it.

My challenge suggestion is 'parkrunception'. Did this two weeks ago, you start running on one parkrun course, leave the course at a point of your choosing, run to another parkrun course, complete that course and then return and complete the first course. I call it parkrunception as it is a parkrun within a parkrun.
@runningchannel4 жыл бұрын
Wow Colin, that sounds like a long run! Presumably you'd need two parkrun courses quite close to each other?

@@runningchannel Depends how ambitious you want to be! I did Warwick Racecourse and Leamington Spa, the run was 26km in total. Could have gotten that down to about 24km with the most direct route but I preferred a more scenic route with less traffic.

Start at an unfamiliar location and run as close to 10km as you can without using any form of measuring or timing device to aid you. Can’t be run on a track for obvious reasons. The one who is the nearest to the 10k distance is the winner.

Next time you all want a challenge accepted idea - I have some thoughts for a blind running challenge. (Please don’t run with this idea without expert support) but it would be a really cool awareness raiser for the need of guide runners to facilitate blind people running in their local park runs or personal training plans. Looks like challenge accepted has waned but if you bring it back hit me up for a video on this.

How about a 5K run, but each K has to have a negative split. Each kilometre gets slightly faster than the previous. It could be faster by just 1 second per mile, or faster by 30 seconds. No matter how small the margin of increase is, it still counts. The person who gains the most negative time wins?

Why not do a proper 10km race, but make it a handicap race where the start time is based on each presenter’s PB this year. So for example Andy might have to start 15 minutes after Anna if that is the difference in their PB. It could be really exciting to see them all trying to run down, or hold off the others to see who would win.
