I had a friend who worked at BOTH Hollister and Abercrombie. She needed a job because of family financial troubles and she was the oldest. She also had body dysmorphia and hated her body because she couldn't keep food in her system like she wanted to. They (mainly her boss) fed on that RELIGIOUSLY, saying she's so lucky she doesn't have to worry about food making her fat. She quit both jobs after three weeks and went to work where she wanted to originally at Pets Mart. Those places were horrible to a teens self-esteem and confidence. My mom NEVER let me shop there and I didn't want to. Like my mom wasn't a fan of Hot Topic either, but at least they didn't fat shame you or told you to keep using an ED you medically had no control over.

I worked at Abercrombie at 18 in 2007 and they were SO STRICT about what you wear and how you looked. They didn’t want you to wear anything with words on it and really they only wanted you to wear Abercrombie clothes every shift and they would give you a measly 25% discount as an employee. I didn’t have enough Abercrombie for every day of the week so I just tried to wear something that looked like it all the time. Eventually they just kept me in the back all the time sorting new shipments and spraying perfume on every item and I got sick of it so I just quit after about 2 months.

My best friend and I got randomly recruited at Abercrombie back in the day, but I honestly think it was just because they desperately needed a couple of black employees lol. We'd been window shopping at different stores, and came across A&F. After barely putting two feet in the store, a woman was in our face, calling us beautiful and asking if we'd ever thought about being "store models." Within 15 minutes, we were hired and on the next week's schedule for training. This was during the whole racial discrimination suit, so she was probably like, "Yes! A two for one special!" 😂🤦🏾♀️

I'd be literally counting my steps, walking around in circles, that's how bored I was-because I never even got to work with my friend, and very few of the other employees interacted with me (but, that could've been on me too, I was super shy). We were never scheduled for the same shifts, which was the actual only reason why I accepted the job in the first place. This was during the summer, and I already had a part-time gig. I got recruited to work at hollister but I was already working at Abercrombie and kids when I was 17. Looking back now, it was def a weird job. Just had to stand by the door re fold one table of clothes again and again just to greet customers walking in. Most of them were creepy older guys who would just try to hit on me.

One time I got recruited in a target but I've always looked way older than I am. I was 12 when it happened and I was like "I would but I'm only 12 right now"
