My Uncle Harry Rowe was the milkman of Runswick Bay and Hinderwell and also councillor and twice Mayor of Scarborough . I find it very sad that its only holiday homes now !

I remember Harry well in fact we moved into his house in Browns Terrace Hinderwell in 1959 I believe Harry moved from there to the top of Runswick bank.

@@nigelcooper878 That's wonderful !!!! I never knew until he died that he was a war hero at El Alamein and on the beaches of Normandy ! He never ever mentioned it ! His Uncle with the same name died on the Somme on July 7th 1916 . ( His name is on the war memorial at Thiepval .) My Grandfather gave Harry the same name Stephen Henry Rowe ! The Best man I ever met and he was my Uncle ??? As a boy I went with them delivering milk in Hinderwell and Runswick in his Standard van ! At 83 years of age he was delivering ,"Meals on Wheels" !!! ( I live in Jeffreys Bay , South Africa and have been here 44 years and have never been back )

An historic and beautiful village with just 14 permanent residents....Robert Goodwill MP on a visit recently asked if there was a power cut as there were no lights on in the village...🤣🤣
