This is such an incredible song, and if this is the direction Grace is heading, with this song and You'll Get Bored, the world is about to witness the full emergence of an amazing talent (not that Grace fans don't already know that). I cannot get You're So Beautiful out of my head
@kenaldri49235 жыл бұрын
I totally agree and have said as much in comments to other videos. Grace I assume will or already has outgrown the uke. In her quest for new musical direction, she has sometimes clung to it while exploring a jazzier or more indie sound. The results have been very satisfying ( i.e moonlight). But ultimately, the uke is just too limited. At 15, Grace can still easily learn new instruments. Within a year, I predict her sound will evolve noticeably, and it will change in part to accommodate her dancing. Old fans should not lament this which just represents the inevitable growth of an incredible talent. I knew from the moment I first heard moonlight that what we are hearing now was possible. Her instincts are to be different. By the end of this summer, we will hopefully have a good sense for exactly what that means.

I saw her live last summer...as a matter of fact it was only a few days ago last year...and just wow...I almost cried. I look up to her so much because she inspired me to start playing the ukulele and that's super important to me. Can't wait for this next Grace era! 💖💖💖

In the studio version of this song, they cut back on the background chords a lot which gave it a dreamier quality. Here, you can hear the chords a little better. There are so many subtle variations on this song out there now. Seems Melissa and Grace just keep reinventing it but without sacrificing the songs natural beauty. It can go acoustic, jazzy or spacey/chill. Its Grace's defining song for 2019. Love it.

I was negative on this version at first, but now I like it. For one, it has a cool intro. Also, the voicings are more subtle and add a nice dreamy atmosphere. Repeat listenings are really helping. And is the keyboadrist adding vocal harmony?
@RunUphillBackwards5 жыл бұрын
@Ken Aldrich - Good, glad you like it. People need to understand that this is not going to be like the studio version, and this band is not part of the studio recording. This is strictly Grace's touring/concert band. And yes, Nolan on the keyboard and Melissa on guitar are both adding vocals. Grace keeps the prerecorded track playback to a minimum when performing live.

Glad to see a fan who doesn't feel obliged to call every performance of Grace's wonderful. In this concert she seems to have changed her style to appeal to a college age crowd, at an outdoor venue. Ditto for her stage moves. Overall, something of a pop vibe (reluctant as I am to use that term for her except for a few songs). Seems off her stride, and her voice isn't at her best.

Fredee, do you have any idea why Grace's song, "Just a Crush" has not been in her playlist this year? The live shows in Feb at the Slipper, and these several concerts recently, I am nearly certain, she has not performed it. I cannot think of any other of her originals that has not been performed, other than this one. Maybe I am missing it, but I listen to her all the time on KZbin, and I have not heard this. If you have no idea, do you have any suggestions on who to ask?? I have always really like, :Just a Crush," a lot!! Thanks . . .
@RunUphillBackwards5 жыл бұрын
@@rickwasson1113 Well, I think the only person you could ask is Grace. She is moving away from her earliest songs. There are many originals she seldom or never preforms publicly any more. Let's see what her set list and total show length is on the Ur So Beautiful Tour, and if she stays at an hour as before, or goes longer.
@allthings.stranger5 жыл бұрын
Rick Wasson I’m pretty sure Grace might not like that song as much anymore; as grace has stated in past interviews, there are many songs she doesn’t like as much as she did when she wrote them, hence she doesn’t sing them as much. Some songs she just doesn’t perform because they don’t fit into her set anymore. There are many songs she hasn’t performed since last year: Burned, Clay, Beautiful Thing, Light the Sky, Talk Good, Just a Crush, Insane Sometimes and more. Grace moves on and writes more. I think she’s gotten older and some of them don’t fit into her schedule or don’t speak to her the same way they used to. But no one know for sure except Grace.
@allthings.stranger5 жыл бұрын
Random thought I had whilst coming back to this(for the third time today) maybe Grace changed up this song because she figured she might get TOO much attention from it. The reception when Ur So Beautiful first debuted was almost overwhelming, with nearly 70,000 views, maybe she wants to keep that low profile as she’s said before. I’m pretty sure I’m wrong but who knows, either way I don’t care, I love both versions.
@RunUphillBackwards5 жыл бұрын
How Grace and her 3 piece band (with backing track) perform songs live, is often (frequently) different from the studio recording. Sometimes she just likes to change things up, and sometimes you just can't duplicate the studio recording in a live performance. In any case, neither the slipper room nor this version or the FATM shows should be considered a blueprint for the released song - they're all just different, which is fine.
@allthings.stranger5 жыл бұрын
Fredee Ziffel I totally agree, but a lot of people are disappointed that it got changed so I’m trying to offer some explanations to ease some upset and unquiet minds. I love both versions, at first I didn’t really like this version of the song but it’s definitely grown on me. Sometimes you’ve just gotta accept something you have no control over and maybe you can learn to love it.
