My favorite video clip and music from our bike trip.... However Fanny doesn't like Euphoric Trancey stuff... neither does anyone else evidently.

I would say any bike is fine. 100-120kph is fastest you ever need to go. Bikes? Honda Africa Twin, KLR 650, Honda WR 450, new KTM 790Adventure R, Triumph XCx, Yamaha T7 Tenere, KTM 690 Enduro with Rally raid type kit. get a long range petrol tank if you can afford it. Lighter is best for off road, but carefully consider comfort/reliability/fun/all surface. Avoid Egypt unless you really want to see it as some Egyptians are corrupt, chaotic, annoying and carne de passage (trip tick) is the most expensive, filter fuel into your tank using a fuel filter like we used (see equipment page on our blog at www.bigbiketrip.net) otherwise your filter WILL get clogged and stop you, camp as much as you can and go light, take lots of pictures, enjoy the route, dont rush trip ... make sure you have lots of time, check weather against itinerary for optimal conditions, do lots of side trips to see things, definitely see Namibia and Tanzania, bring your girlfriend / wife so you can share experience and memories, not feel homesick and share tasks etc... If your other half and you survive this you will survive anything. However, if you choose to go solo you will meet more people ... strange...but true. China is fascinating, Australia is tough, Asia has best food, America is pretty, Europe is fun, but Africa is probably the best.
