Great video! Very informative for someone also about to crack a motor in apart for the first time. Can’t wait for part two! Cheers!

The best advice I can give to anyone doing this head replacement, would be to go ahead and do a piston ring job, rod bearing etc., at the same time. I did the head job, and not long after the ring job needed doing. I had to pull the head again. Save yourself some time and labor. Do it all at the same time.

I use to fart around with a bungee cord too ., but I found ., taking off the gear and letting the chain go down , is just fine. Keeping the marks on crankshaft and cam at 12 o’clock ., during the entire procedure

This was a great video, nice and slow for someone like me who’s never done this before. Have blown the head gasket on my 1992 Toyota pickup. I’ve been driving it for 30 years, first trouble I’ve ever had with it. Did you get it back together? Wish there was a part 2. Thanks!

It’s good to see another video from you guys. It’s been way to long. Can’t wait to see the rest of him getting put back together. No trail Videos this year I take it with the situation we are in these days.

Top tip folks. Never use resurfaced or reused rockers on these engines. They have to be new when using a new cam. I got away with used rockers on a new cam only once out of luck. My dads fancy rebuild had resurfaced pads and a very nice LCE cam. It wiped the lobes in just a few days. The $250 Amazon complete heads with cams, dont bother. It sucks finding good heads for these engines now.

improper valve lash is the cause for that unusual camshaft wear.
