Good ideas! I was saying last game I would like for our fans to countdown the shot clock when our team is running low on seconds. Instead our fans just start cheering and getting antsy and then we throw up some desperation long three point shot up with like 3 seconds left on the shot clock. Lol either way love my team/fans go cats!

Did you notice something about the Mark Pope press conference when he was hired??? How loud and crazy it was?? It’s because there wasn’t 10,000 nursing home patients in the lower level. Sorry to say it. But it’s why Rupp gets quiet so much. If Rupp had the atmosphere of that press conference every game, it would be insane.

i used to go to games with a group from west ky when i was a teen. the next youngest was probably 50. mostly over 60 years old. we had TWO chartered busses of people. so, needless to say that is 2 busses full of people that have absolutely no care to yell or be rowdy. and i would see multiple other busses with the same. 22 thousand people. only about a third care to be rowdy in any sense of the word. handing out homemade fudge was their celebration.

Thank you for putting out this PSA! I've been complaining about this stuff for years. We need a much better atmosphere in there. I'm ngl, I hate the Oweh chant Matt has tried to get going, but I'm there for everything else. It's pretty well known out there that Rupp is not the most intimidating place to play, and that needs to be changed, badly. We need to put more pressure on Mitch and the athletic department to make the atmosphere more rowdy. Keep fighting the good fight, Steven! This is what we need!

We just need easy stuff that people can chant. We have “Go Big Blue” and that’s great, but switching it up every once in a while helps to break up the monotony. We also need to get chants going during the run of play. Especially when the other team has the ball and coming out of every timeout.

@WatchKSR I know it won't happen, but I would love to see a student section on both ends of the court. And how about a simple defense chant, as I think you pointed out at Miss St? Maybe make it a thing to get as loud as we possibly can during the opposing team's free throws? Put up a decibel meter during those free throws or something. That alone would make Rupp a better home court advantage. We just need to take pride in making it difficult for the other team when they come here. Too often I will flip to another channel to check a score and almost every place out there has fans screaming the whole game. Then I flip back to KY and Rupp is dead silent. That shouldn't be what our games are like at any point.

I think the Jumbotron and Cheerleaders/Mascot are the ones that start the Blue-White chant at football games. I could be wrong though. Also if you look at the side screens at Rupp on he mid and upper decks all it says is "Get Loud" that's is. Change that to "Blue-White" chant instead maybe idk. Edit: I would only say Blue-White chant when playing defense just like Football

A great place for the blue and white chant would be after the “What’s your favorite color, baby?” sting, since the crowd always responds to it anyway. Just carry the chant after for as long as we can

Maybe giving out those paper "megaphones" like the ones the cheerleaders use but smaller and more managable can help get rupp louder. Eruption zone would definitly use it, even the older folks too!

Its sad because it just hasnt been very good for a while now. I agree some improvements have been made this year though. And overall the crowd seems more into it because of the new era. The swag surfing the e-zone does at the final timeout is great. The whos in the house tonight and whats your favorite color baby they do over the loud speakers is good. But its only once a game I think? Not enough. Cheer trying to bring back the C-A-T-S around the stadium is really good athough you probably noticed they ran out of time to do it vs A&M, they went out there and had to wait for the stupid rap they were blasting over the speakers to stop and they just ran out of time and had to scrap it. Oh, and the Dream On video before the game is nothing short of a masterpiece, I hope they never change it out. Even little improvements like when they show the Cats in the NBA before the game, the pictures are of them in UK jerseys, not their nba ones. And shoutout to the snackwards cam, whoever came up with that needs a raise. There are a couple obvious problems though: #1 is the one people always talk about, too many older fans down low who dont care to do much cheering or standing. Not much you can do about that one, its a big problem though. BUT the one thing ive been screaming out for for years is the placement of the student section, its total nonsense. We have the erupption zone at the baseline, then half the reserved (seated) student section off to the side behind the bench, then the rest of the seated students back in the upper deck at the baseline side. IF they just moved the students that are behind the bench to behind the erupption zone instead, we could have a wall of students from the court all the way to the back wall of the upper deck. How awesome would that be? That would change nothing logistically, roughly same number of students, PLUS the general admission people youd be moving would be moved into BETTER seats. Everyone is happy. It makes absolutely zero sense the way it is now. Also, the athletic department putting literally any financial effort in would be great. There arent even pom poms at every game for the students. Whens the last time we did any sort of full stadium white out or stripe out at Rupp? Last white out I remember was Florida back in maybe 2007. Plenty of programs do those sorts of things for big games and we just never do. They leave it to a student organization, Team Wildcat to try and occasionally put that together at a small scale but its just in the erupption zone, so its not very interesting.

You want the blue /white chants back you need to talk to Pope to bring it back. It's gone away twice now, once with Cal and the other with Pitino. I believe Pitino said it was a lazy cheer and Cal said it was stupid. How are you going to get the blue hairs to make some noise? They barely golf clap. I watched a tennis exhibition in Rupp with Venus, Serena, and Anna Kournikova that was about the same. Maybe liquor them up or make games after their bedtime or during Bingo. The third is something KSR can help with. Make the 3 point signs for the fans. When Kentucky makes one tape it up in the corner over the locker room entrance. KSR or KSBar can advertise on the back of the signs. Fans used to have dozens of those they collected from games. As far as the "Who's in the house?" chant goes I think it's kinda corny but I'm down for whatever helps

Back in the day in Memorial...tight game, crowd hushed, time out, Cats need a lift. From the band a lone drummer would hit the rim of a drum tat tat tat- tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat tat TAT! Someone in the band would let out a primal scream and the snare drums would repeat the cadence. Now primal screams throughout the areana, people standing. Then the bass drum would join BOOM BOOM BOOM.. tnen all the drums pounding out the cadence and the rest of the band screaming ind doing synchronized horn waving. Even the old blue haired ladies waving their hands. Whistle blows for the inbound, place would be rocking and sometimes Kentucky would proceed to run teams out of the gym. I was a kid and loved it. Old now but thats how i remember it. Any old pep band folks that could tell us more about that rollicking cheer?

Rupp arena needs to get loud from the jump every possession we are on defense. Just scream Oooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! And then add in the chants here and there. It seems like rupp waits for the team to get them pumped up… we are there to pump the team up! Everyone in the crowd has a role to play! Like coach pope says… this is our team!!

Well said! Every game I watch, save UK, the crowd is red-faced screaming the "Ooohhhhhhh" every possession the visiting team is on offense. Can you imagine the problems an opposing PG and coach would have hearing play calls and staying tuned in 100%? Just with a simple "oohhh".

We need more student tickets at an affordable price, it is ridiculous that I know SO many motivated SENIOR cats that are wild about UK basketball but can’t get season tickets and can’t afford to pay the crap costs to go. I love that there are so many fans, but students deserve seats more than any older fan. You can always go back and watch a game but you get a few years to truly enjoy the experience. Stop the greed get some more tickets for students. Oh, and fix the placement of the student section it’s awful

I LOVE ALL this, but maybe we should have the cheerleaders ACTUALLY lead those cheers, like all the time. They should do more than their routine or all the back flips only. GIVE them a microphone. Also while we are on cheers, why do we do the GO BIG BLUE chant so slow at basketball? If the crowd starts it rather than the drum, it is so much better and faster. Also, faster at the football games. Just one of my pet peeves

It could be worse. Arkansas made their entire arena season tickets. Fayetteville is not close to anything. No way are you making it to a mid week game vs the 287th ranked team. Not to mention you may drive an hour or two to watch any home game. Not doing that in the every game is televised era.

Appreciate the constructive criticism Alan. To that I would say this, Go Big Blue and C-A-T-S is fine, but then lets constantly be doing them. There's too much time where the fans are not engaged. All over the SEC basketball and football other fan bases have multiple chants and songs that they will do ad nauseam.

WE KNOW BASKETBALL and we know WHEN to “turn it lose “ and do not have to be making noise a gimmick like most other small pill box arenas! In RUPP Arena… we know basketball and those players know we know basketball… their coaches know BBN knows basketball and when we will peel the paint off the walls! No gimmick cheer or stunt is going to improve upon that top shelf environment we have in RUPP: especially when we steal the ball on a fast break dunk…. Shoot our fourth 3-point shot hoping to tie it up right after making 2-in a row! You can’t improve upon perfection … but you can ruin it by trying to hard and it becomes phony!

This is fine if it is lead by the cheerleaders. However, the coordinated--seemingly required--chants of Duke lemmings are cringy and lame. Can we watch and REACT TO THE GAME without having to worry about keeping up with scripted audience dialogue? Those rallys of the 1930s were over-produced. The natural responses are best.
