First of all respect for what you are doing! To live off the land in a sustainable way is truly commendable. We also live in a lifestyle block of 2 hectares and trying to reduce our carbon footprints . I have been reading a lot about how to feed the world and unfortunately we are the lucky ones. Not everyone can afford to live in a lifestyle block and in urban centres I think the answer lies in rooftop gardens and vegetables grown in commercial buildings as what they are doing in Singapore and New York even though this may seem as unnatural for us. That is the reality for the majority of people in the future. I also believe the future will be a vegan world as the world cannot afford to produce enough animal based protein to feed China and India and Africa. Again my respect for what you are trying to achieve and I myself yearn for that way of life and am trying to replicate it.

We each do our little bit... we've planted 300+ native trees on our 3 quarter acre section. Mostly pittosporum varieties, with a couple of totara, coprosmas, kowhai, lophomyrtus, and corokia. My thought is that we need to bring balance back to the environment of Aotearoa New Zealand and that even in urban areas we can plant native trees. We need to analyse what percentage of land to food production to urban/city we should have - for nature that is taken care of by people, because stands of native forests have many health benefits for humans and for birds (the birds were here before humans) my suggestion is to plant along the edges of highways, native forests, this will increase the removal of carbon from the air as the vehicles create the carbon. I agree with what you're saying too, Jez. All the Best for your lifestyle of sustainable living 💚🌳💚

oh my goodnes. it drives me nuts to see folks living this lifestyle and then grow vegetables out of a tire for example. 11:38 remove those toxic tires from the water.. no wonder the planet is short on water..

who taught you that ? was it a large corporation which handles waste as a business. the idea is to think (i had a thought ), then research and trial, so many things are just that, someone told me so i believe it. what else are you told to believe, just to increase the profit margins of the corporations under the guise of health and safety.
