Great ranking! My top six: 1. Signals 2. Permanent Waves 3. Moving Pictures 4. 2112 5. Hemispheres 6. Vapor Trails! Like you mentioned with HYF, VT just gets better and better with each listen, Counterparts is also a grower. After the synthesizer period, ANIMATE was a breath of fresh air and the song brought me back into the Rush fold.❤

Good job. You definitely nailed the top of the list. _Hold Your Fire_ is the nadir on my list, with _Snakes & Arrows_ next. I would likely put _Hemispheres_ at the top, but if you were to ask me tomorrow I'm just as likely to go with _A Farewell to Kings_ . They're both that good. Which makes it all the more hilarious when I think back to their biography DVD and how the band skipped past them to _Permanent Waves_ .

Great list! What I love about Rush, as you said, is how consistent yet diverse they are. For example, aside from our top 2 albums, our lists are so different! I put their 90s alt stuff higher than a lot of their 80s work, and even shuffle some of that and their prog/classic stuff more. Great video!

Great ranking, friend. For me it's a bit different. I love the 80's stuff, I came in with Show Of Hands. Then their 70's albums. I don't know Clockwork and Snakes and I dislike Vapor Trails. The first 2 albums are also not my thing. The rest is all killer stuff imo. Presto is higher on my list though 😊. Thanks!!!❤

Great job and nice list. My top 10: 1. 2112 2. A Farewell To Kings 3. Counterparts 4. Clockwork Angels 5. Hemispheres 6. Moving Pictures 7. Signals 8. Fly By Night 9. Perm Waves 10. Rush I’m an older fan. Their 70s work was fairly ominous sounding for the time period, esp the intro to Working Man, the middle section in By-Tor and the Snow Dog, 2112, and the 2 concept suites on Caress Of Steel. It was a great time to be alive hearing “the new Rush song” Tom Sawyer for the first time on the radio in 1981! I have 2112 and A Farewell To Kings at 1 And 2, but really they are tied, even when using increments of 0.25 of a point using a 10 star (point) rating system.

Great ranking Nathan. I personally would rank Clockwork... higher. For me, it was a return to Rush, previous albums after Grace... well, sorry but I have no "time" for them. I first got into Rush through my schoolfriend Michael and remember going round to his home and listening to Fly By Night. Amazing revelation. I saw them in Chester, England, on their Moving Pictures tour, and it remains one of my favourite gigs of all time.

Super ranking Nathan! I’ve been a huge Rush fan since discovering them in 1981 and never really thought about what you described when you were discussing 2112 - that they are superb at expressing the lyrics in the representation of the music as well. Great point!

Nice job on the list. It's so hard to rank their albums as all of them have their strong points. I think on 2112, yes, the first side is truly an amazing epic prog piece that showcases their fantastic abilities as musicians, and the second side shows their ability to write shorter songs that foreshadowed their later releases of Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. I was not a fan of their 80's records after Moving Pictures. Just went too far with the keyboards and synths, but their last few albums were great. Not to say that there weren't some good tracks on those 80's albums, just overall they lost me for a while.

I would post my standing Rush tier list, but it's so close to yours that it would be a bit redundant. I will just post my Top 5: Moving Pictures, Hemispheres, A Farewell to Kings, Permanent Waves, Signals.

Wouldn't it be awesome if they did a similar remix of Hold Your Fire? That album is so thin and brittle sounding. Steven Wilson's services are required.

@@norwegianblue2017 Presto and hold your fire !!! Those 2 records would be top ten for me. My favourites are all between Permanent Waves and Presto so yeah I would love a remix/remaster for sure. I do love Hemisphere and a few songs on Farewell to Kings, 2112, Caress of steel and Fly by night but not enough to listen to the entire record. There are a few after presto but Vapour trails is the exception in terms of later Rush albums that I like to listen too and the remix has a lot to do with it. i don't like most of Snakes and Arrows and Clockwork Angels and I despise Test for Echoes and the first Album entirely. F**k those records !!!!

When RUSH tried to rap, I felt like throwing up. No clue what they were thinking. Great rankings though, Nathan. 70s RUSH all day, just like YES. Too bad both bands turned from Prog to Pop in the 80s, but that just shows you the power of money.

Hold your fire is their fisrt mediocre album sicne their foundation. Grace under Pressure is their best album by far. 80's rush is the top. Cant get better thant that. Alex's guitar work, tone, voicings and ideas are uncanny.

@@NathanOnShuffle 80s was a weird era music-wise. Personally Rush made the best of that era's production /sound/keyboards direction that everybody was going for. Many many records dont hold up today sonically. Rush DID it. Their sound and production during that time still sounds fresh. Not a fan of 80's music either. Perhaps they are the only artists i listent to from the 80's save some early thrash metal (that's another story).

Great ranking, Nathan. I boarded the Rush train when Grace Under Pressure came out. Distant Early Warning was a song that connected with me on the very first listen. Within a year, I owned the entire catalog up to that point.
