Date - December 15th
The story behind this murmuration, The week before the Starlings were across one of the main large reed beds numbers growing daily which of course brought in the raptors, The hawks grew in numbers too, each night they would push the Starlings closer and closer to the middle of the reed bed in a organised attack, circling the Starlings waiting for their moment of attack.
The Starlings you could hear were stressed by this action and I believe this is what has now sent the birds far far down the reserve into sketchy flooded marsh land, surround by trees and narrow muddy paths ,with a fully loaded backpack and full sized tripod I played cat and mouse with the Starlings, zipping through tree lined muddy walkways with my mobile camera out, jumping over dense brush in every attempt to capture this golden murmuration in the winter sunset. I've put together what i managed to capture as and when it happened, not my smoothest footage as i was non stop running pretty much from marsh to marsh trying to keep up with their ever changing flight path..
