This is the first Rush song I remember really getting into, and playing it all the time. Even though it's one of their most popular tracks, it's definitely one of my favorites. Geddy, Alex, and Neil are all going crazy on this one, and the lyrics are very meaningful. You did a phenomenal job on this track (which you always do)! Keep up the great work! 😎🤘

04:09 - pure gold! Awesome, Myke. This is actually coming up on my list too. What a great song, although I know what you mean - the Moving Pictures “hits”, like this, Tom Sawyer, YYZ, Red Barchetta, have been played to death over here too. I don’t really listen to them much any more, but they are legendary songs, which is why I did TS and YYZ, and will probably get round to this at some stage. This is possibly the best version of Limelight I’ve seen. Fantastic work! 👏👏👏💯

awesome job as usual. The only one i skip is Tom Sawyer, for the same reason. How about some stuff from Vapor Trails? The remixed version is one of the top 5 Rush albums of all time. Ceiling Unlimited, Freeze, Vapor Trails have some great drumming

Thanks very much! As for Vapour Trails, that was the first Rush album I just couldn't get into. That said, I do like "One Little Victory", and you're absolutely right, there's some great drumming on there. I'll add the song to my to-do list, but it won't come out till January (I've already filmed all my 2024 content as of a few weeks ago). And I should probably check out the remixed version. I bought the original album the day it came out, came home, put it in the stereo, and just kinda forgot I was listening to it. I'll revisit it.

My toms are arranged in descending melodic order, alternating from side to side. So, from the drummer perspective, it goes 12" on the left of the hats, 14" floor on the right, 16" floor on the left, 20" gong drum on the right. So I can descend melodically on the toms going right left right left without having to cross over.

@@MykeLewisMusic Ah ok, interesting. Kind of reminds me of quads from back in corps. I've seen setups like that, and it absolutely makes sense, but I haven't played like that in a looooong time. Also I stripped down to a just single rack and a single floor tom (plus some pads and toys) so it's not like I could anyway.

Thanks very much, I appreciate it! The cymbals are a mix of old and new. The ride cymbal is a 20" K Heavy Ride from 1993, The hats are 16" K Light Hats from 2010, and the crashes are all from 2022. The splashes are A Customs, 10" and 6", and they're both from some times in the late-90s, can't remember specifically. The chinas are both new, 20" and 18" Oriental Trash (the 18" is currently broken, a new one is on the way).

@@MykeLewisMusic it also appears that you use a cable Hi Hat. If so, which one? I need to get one and am leaning towards the DW 9000 or 9200 or something but curious which one you like.

I've only used the one that I have, it's a Pearl Eliminator from around 2005. It took some getting used to, but I love it now. As for whether it's the "best one", I have no idea. I've never tried the DW ones, they might be great, so don't take my happiness with my Pearl pedal as an endorsement of Pearl, lol (though I have no complaints about the company)
