Thanks for Posting brother! I was in the audience, and I still "lose it" every time I hear it.

I may have never met you Neil, but as someone who took nearly all of his drumming influence from you, I miss you so much. I hope you have found peace in whatever life there is after this one, if there is one. And if there is, I hope your wife and daughter met you as you finished your journey here. You left a everlasting impact on so many people, including me. The world is better for having known you.

this was the best performance of this song I had heard on this tour by a long-shot.

This is beyond words and so emotional for me personally. RIP the worlds greatest drummer.

Dinklage is apparently a life long fan, and while he was a part of the string ensemble on the CA tour, confessed to the guys it was his dream to play this one on stage with them. They decided to make it come true for him when they played out in his home turf. Classy gesture, typical of them. RIP Neil.

I was at Lakeside Park yesterday near where Neil grew up. They have a Neil Peart Pavillion. Soon there will be a statue of Neil there.

This song cuts me to the core..brings chills each time i listen to it..and cuts even deeper, with the passing of NP. Neil understood what was important in life, observed life, interpersonal dynamics and poetically drafted nearly all of the rush song lyrics with such emotion..not only a great percussionist/drummer, but a philosopher, poet and philanthropist. I'm sure he would shy away from those additional titles..but that's what made him Neil and so special. He was truer than true and oh so humble. If he only knew the magnitude of his touch on thousands like me. R.I.P. sailor, wherever your ship may take you! :-)

Jonathan Dinklage is one hell of a violinist, I must add. He's the brother of Peter Dinklage of "Game of Thrones" fame, for those who did not know.

I can't imagine the amazing privilege to be a 4th member on stage with them, if even for just one song. For me- this song wrought together so much intensity and fragility unlike any other I've ever heard before. A couple of others come close, but this one blows them away.

Or as Jonathan put it in Cinema Strangiato yesterday, " I replied to them with an emphatic YES!!! " . Ms Cygnus X1, I totally concur with you.

I'm gonna call it. Dinklage absolutely nailed it. So much control and intensity. Honestly, I thought his was better than Mink's performance on the DVD.

TheStuntmanSteve I agree completely. The dvd was kind of a bummer

You're absolutely goddamn right. I can't speak for why Mink played it how he chose to, but as far as Dinklage - there is a kind of reverence and energy that a fan, rather than the original musician, can bring to a piece. You're on stage, playing with your heroes, and all you can think is doing as much justice as you can to the original. And he absolutely fucking did. Bravo.
@rollergoalie166 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more. No slight to Mink as his recorded performance on Signals still gives me goosebumps. I've been saying the same thing ever since I saw live videos surface on KZbin of Dinklage's and Mink's performance(s), Dinklage absolutely killed. The squeal at 4:30 is spot on and chilling.

As a comparison Dinklage played with emotion and passion, Mink played the notes.

Agreed, MUCH better, I feel so blessed to have seen this live. I was freaking out when Peter came out on stage and Geddy said they were playing my favorite song. Not a dry eye in the audience :)

My favorite RUSH song, as far as how I live my life, and appreciate it! Don't take your life for granted, especially, if you're still able to work your craft, no matter what it is. Makes me realize my mortality, and RUSH are predicting their future with this song, knowing that they will also be one of the characters in this tune... not being able to perform like they used to, and know they will have to retire, and reflect upon their past... in a good way. "Sadder still to watch it die Than never to have known it." They lived it!!!

Damn! Dinklage was really tearing it up on that violin! What an amazing, powerful and emotional instrumentation. Dinkliage deserve to be on that stage with those master musician and we all know there are not many musicians who can step on stage with those three gods of rock, but Dinklage’s solo was fucking amazing and he matches up to the same talent on his instrument. The bridge in this song was always great, but Dinklage just stole the show with that bridge.
