The greatest deep track song of Rush's entire catalog. They finally broke it out of the vaults and played it live a few times during their last and final tour.

Given that both Alex and Neil were being injected with painkillers before every show on R40, the song had become very personal by then. There's one other great deep track that they never played live that I wish I could've heard, Available Light.

I received this album, "Signals," as a Christmas present from my parents in 1982. "Losing It" became my favorite song after hearing this album in its entirety the first time (I had requested this album for a Christmas gift after hearing the song "New World Man"). Neil had stated in his final interviews that he didn't want to be seen as the dancer as written about in verse 1 and why he chose this time to end his part in the band. It's also the reason why he "suggested" this song be played (for the first time) on the R40 Tour. I was 12 when this song was released. I am now 49. I have NEVER heard this song without choking up. Thanks for posting and again my condolences on your indescribable loss.

You know how I knew that Rush was retiring from touring on their R40 Tour in 2015? Because they FINALLY played “Losing It “ LIVE!! Of course having the “virtuoso violinist Ben Mink” who played this originally on the “Signals” album in 1982, to play it on that tour was the “icing on the cake” for this life long Rush chick. Oh, & this was the only tour, since recording it, that it was EVER played. It was an often fan requested one for every tour since the Signals tour.

So off the Signals album the first lyrics are about a ballerina and then about a writer-in this case: Ernest Hemingway and at the time Neil reflected that this applies to anyone with gifts of dance, voice, writing, sports that there is a finite time of being at your peak and slowly over time: Losing It…the gift that made you a living perhaps famous celebrity known to be best at something. Neil himself acknowledged that it was coming to an end for him-retirement. Aches pains etc ultimately cancer but also knowing the years of stamina particularly from Fly by Night to Power Windows was ebbing away. The wonderful Mr. Ben Mink on Electric Violin 🎻

In his short time on Earth he has enriched your life forever. Losing It is one of my top five favourite Rush tracks, buried deeply on my favourite Rush album, Signals. I echo the sentiments of one of your other followers, Rocky Rush Rivera. Rush have possibly one-upped the deep pathos of this song with the last song that they ever put on vinyl - The Garden from a Clockwork Angels (last track from their last album) is a deep, mature work of a band looking back at a life well-lived, inspired by Candid.
