@tomsaueracker71876 жыл бұрын
Power Window is my favorite album too. Big Money may be more commercial, but it's my favorite song. They keys are subdued, really only four notes - the intro and ending - but the Wal is Geddy's TRUE tone in my humble opinion, well, that and his Berger L2. It made me run out to Rudy's Guiter Center in NYC and get one. I got Ged's black with gold hardware for a steal at only $900, but that was back in 1995. The prices have gone up considerably since then. It was the album that introduced Neil's love of synth drums and Ged's keyboards really became front and center.

amonster8mymother From what I’ve read - the bass lines got more ‘complex’ after deciding on the Wal over the Berger. He said you could play faster/clearer and as a result, he went back to the lab and concocted the sound we know and love - the Power Windows sound!

He's got Geddy's right hand technique down pretty well, including proper placement over the pickup ... Most of these guys posting Geddy transcription videos never get that right. I just noticed in your description you mention GK 700 RB II amps. Is that what you're running your bass through or is that the pedals?
@66TJP8 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian. For the audio in my videos, the bass runs through the GK 700 RB II's and then straight to the mixer.. The Wal is not stereo but for this song and Grand Designs, I ran both amps instead of just one for the Wal. For the Moog Taurus pedals, I use a Sans Amp Bass DI straight into the mixer. If I were to use the Taurus pedals in a live setting they would also run through the GK 800RB and the Acoustic 106 (2X15) cab.
@Phillyfast8 жыл бұрын

@christopherpietrzyk857 Жыл бұрын
I’m fortunate enough to have a signed copy, all 3 of his Wals are in the book in a section dedicated to all of the basses he used for Rush before R40, he just kind of goes through how he started using Wals and when he used his 5 string Wal, and in a sidebar overviewing Wal basses he says they’re very high quality and use beautifully selected woods and that their circuitry is dead quiet, he lists the years each one was made if you’re curious, the black mk I is 1985, the 5 string is 1986, and the red mk II is 1990
