I cry everytime I hear a RUSH tune knowing that The Professor Neil Peart is no longer with us.😢🙏 He is in heaven playing in that great concert in the sky with Johnny Cash, Jimi, Jim Morrison, Dave Bowie, Lennon, Buddy Holly, George Harrison, Joe Strummer and every one else. He was a very intelligent person as well as an extraordinary drummer. Many of the lyrics he wrote were based on works by writers such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dorothy Parker, John Dos Passos and my All - Time favorite writer and the basis for Neil's lyrics Ayn Rand. By the way read The Fountainhead. This book 's theme is the basis for much of RUSH's music.

this song is GREAT and genius... that bridge breakdown twisting the words of an old poem from "prophets" to "profits" is genius
@crystalp72422 жыл бұрын
It’s not from an old poem. It’s a nod to the final lines of the Simon & Garfunkel song “The Sounds of Silence”: “The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls / And tenement halls / And whispered in the sounds of silence.” That song was released in the late 1960s, and was included on the soundtrack of (as well as a very pivotal scene in) “The Graduate”. It is pretty genius how they (Or maybe Neil? He was Rush’s primary lyricist) adapted those lines into a commentary on commercialism in music. And they set those lines to sort of a reggae/ska rhythm that’s completely different from the rest of the song. (Edited to correct the lyrics I was referring to.)
