The best way to to be a Rush fan is be inspired by their music enough to start your own band, and write your own material. Yeah, I know there is so much original music nowdays it's ridiculous, but you can only go so far musically with playing in a tribute band.

I just saw this, so i i know this is pretty old BUT, there is one and only one tribute rush band that comes even close. I went to see this 3 man band called Lotusland and they are a so dam close to the real thing it was truly amazing. Again---- LOTUSLAND

Just because one is a talented musician does not automatically mean that he can write songs. For some musicians, learning other people's music is their comfort level and what they prefer to do.

(Cont) If these Rush tribute guys even knew anything about what Mr. Peart has tried to expouse in his 40+ years of writing for the band - it's all about INDIVIDUALISM (try reading some of his inspiration; Ayn Rand's Anthem, The Fountainhead, etc). There is nothing in the universe stopping these talented tribute bands from surpassing what Rush has done. That should be the goal or the aim. Forge new roads - create NEW sounds and textures, moods, feelings. I just can't imagine - following.

They had a better singer who left like not long before they did the show. He wasn't up for shows not near home. The guitar player is my dad :P Then Serge went back packing in Europe and the other guy came back.

Man, be yourself. I can imagine playing Rush, Zeppelin, Purple, Queen, and Who covers in your garage because of my love and respect for these bands; but it seems so insipid, hollow, and trite to try to make a living ... if you're already THAT talented, and they are, they could be their own fckn band!

both bands are a far cry from being right on tight with playing Rush. The reason is thats why there is only one RUSH, because they play the shit out of their instruments.

Bullshit. If you can handle an instrument and you know your major and minor chord structures - and if you can remember the words 'La la la baby, I'm floatin down the river and I'm gonna meet my baby and we're gonna party all night long...'
