Rushing Water On the St. Louis River- Dual sport Adventure

I rode the WR250R up to the Thompson Dam and explored the area around the reservoir. The water was gushing out the gates with the spring runoff and recent rain we've had. Further up river I found a cable crossing with a man bucket that made me wonder what's on the other side? Maybe next time I'll find my way across!

That ferry system is cool -I wonder what was that used for...any guesses? Moving lumber perhaps?

I suspect it is an old US Geological Survey Stream Gauge site used to make river measurements of depth and flow. I came to this conclusion based on the story "Into The Wild" in which there is a similar setup mentioned near where Chris McCandless camped in Alaska.
