"Lying on his family" is individualistic. The reality is that he comes from poverty due to his family history slavery, colonialism, neocolonialism. Him being impoverished had nothing to do with him failing to escape poverty, the system is purposefully set-up that way. More than likely most people are still impoverished within has family, as is the reality for most families globally. This system is set-up in a way whereby people in power (people who determine how we live our lives e.g. government officials, lawmakers, CEOs etc.) exploit poor people here as well as abroad via imperialist foreign policy, then sit back and watch individuals thrive whilst the majority suffer. Profit is always prioritized over people and the planet. Hence why the UK, US, France etc. get workers in the third world to make our clothes due to their labour being cheap, and get 6 year olds to pick coltan from their own land in Congo for the western world to produce iPhones which will be sold at a higher price to Congo than the 6 cents the children make; Or the UK demolish public property to make way for expensive homes in the same area where homeless people sleep. Anti-collectivism and individual prosperity (an idea formulated by classical Liberals) is one of the most dangerous mindsets we can have as it is genocidal.
