There's 1.3 billion people in India, the odds of someone knowing 1300 people is not small. Hell, i had around 1100 people for my wedding. And I am not even a people person. Back when my uncle got married he had over 3000 people for their wedding. And that was before Facebook and whatsapp. 1300 guests might be below average.

I work in a hotel with strong Indian clients and whenever we see Indian wedding on the forecast, we can say goodbye to the world for at least 2 weeks 😂 shit you not, it lasts for a week at least with ceremony every afternoon and hardcore party every evening. I believe so are the people in the front row. He gets there names and prepares a small kit backstage. No one can make up a skit within seconds and make them all good. Most of his famous ones are of peoples names. Hence why when people say there name, he asks again whats there real name.

It may sound unscientific and u got every right to criticize those rules but in India weddings are like a ones in a life time thing unlike in the west we marry only ones quiet literally and everyone frm the immediate family to lost relatives everyone is invited and if you dont invite people it can result in very serious straining in relations ppl literally get cuttoff frm the community if they dont invite everyone frm the community india is a community order based society and emotions supersede science and logics new generation is different but old gen ppl hv veryyy veryyyy strong sense of community participation they'll rather risk dying frm corona thn not inviting a relative and subsequently getting outcasted frm the community a wedding in india is not just 2 ppl marrying its a bigggg social occasion where parents shower their love by spending more thn they can afford to and they want everyone to see that. And unlike the west in india weddings take place accrding to hindu calendar on very auspicious dates u cant marry on any random date and such dates are only 10-20 days in a whole yr so ppl dont wanna wait fr another yr so they do a small wedding of 200 ppl. Btw this thing isnt restricted to just weddings wen my grand father died we fed 1500 ppl everyday fr 4 days coz he was a very well respected guy in the community and everyone wanted to be a part of it.
