Hello Luke, met you at the Stitchdown bootcamp and brought a pair of backcountry boots. I have to say that it was a very nice experience trying on the backcountry boot for the first time (it was my first time trying on a Russel Moccasin). It was the most comfortable boot I ever put on, I could actually fall asleep without taking them off. I can't wait until they arrive, they are going to become my go to casual boot for hanging out as well as hiking around. More people need to try on these boots, it will make people believers. Great job.

Love my thula moccasin shoes. These are my summer shoes and have lasted over 14 years now. Have had them resoled once. The Newporter sole is my favorite!

I love my Russell Moccasins. I have the classic Joe's PH (pre owner change) and the new Safari. I hope to be fitted in person someday for that totally custom feel.

Very useful, and very cool to see up close how these unique boots are put together. it's extraordinary how advanced they were from the early day of manufacture, and also ho unique the techniques have remained. I supposed there is no was to industrialise these construction techniques, one of the reasons (besides patents?) that they were not more widely copied.

from my understanding, the "molded sole" is a layer of poron, which is synthetic. I've always heard that synthetics are to be avoided in heritage footwear as it will inevitably break down. how is this taken into account when considering the longevity of those boots?

The Molded Sole is not synthetic. Its an extra leather layer.

@@w.c.russellmoccasinco thank you for the response. my misunderstanding on the "molded sole." however, the double vamp molded sole model does shoes a "poron slip sole" sandwhiched inside, so the same question applies to that one.
