It’s very mood dependent for me, I love both so much. Generally, I’m going to choose the Russell’s single barrel as well but it’s $70 in my market and Rare Breed is $50 so for the price, I think Rare Breed is the way to go

Currently in Indianapolis I can find WT Rare Breed slightly easier ….at 51.98 Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel takes a little more hunting……but still eventually findable…… at 56.99. Amazingly enough I got these at my local Sam’s Club, which has a varying inventory monthly. Curious enough I stumbled into William Larue Weller 2024 for 119.00.

Rare Breed is great, always consistant, just pure bourbon. A little harsh at 116 proof. The 1st RR i got tasted like bubble gum, but the 2nd bottle was fantastic. Just goes to show single barrels vary but i'll take my chances with the RR.

Rare Breed. Cheaper and more accessible and always a great pour with consistent taste and 1uality.

No argument from me on that! Love the pour
@davidsaul27073 ай бұрын
Price and availability should have nothing to do with how you judge something. Based on that mindset one could say “I really like Russells reserve single barrel but it cost $60 and I can get Evan Williams bottled and bond for $15 so I like Evan Williams better”. Completely flawed and invalid logic.
@dneuens4 ай бұрын
Rare Breed is very good on its own but I find it falls apart when I directly compare it to most things. The Russell’s products stand up far more, especially some of the picks I’ve had. It’s worth a few extra bucks to get a Russell’s pick vs Rare Breed IMO.

I'm in your camp on that! I really enjoy Rare Breed but up against Russell's SB, it didn't hold up for me. Cheers and thanks for watching 🥃

I love both. Russell's is better depending on the rickhouse it came from. But Rare Breed is just a great bourbon. I've blended the two bottles together to make an amazing blend, making two great bottles when done. I can't lose!!

Both are great, both are fairly priced. Rare Breed is far easier for me to find, probably on a scale of 5:1. I will always have a Russel's Reserve on the shelf and will buy a new one before I empty on. Not necessarily the case with Rare Breed, since I can find it at any time. If I only bought one, definitely the Russel's.

oooh - I like this idea I keep several bottles in the $18-$35 range in stock, but typically only have maybe 3-5 bottles above $45, so this is up my alley. *The TW near me has the Rare Breed at $56 and the Russel's at $85, which kind of makes up my mind for me, unfortunately.

If the picks were same price as rare breed or like 5 bucks more. I'd pick the single barrel, but rare breed is 45 bones flat for me and standard Russell's are 57. So rare breed everytime!

Tough one here I like both of these and their rye versions as well. I’d have to flip a coin honestly and then I’d have regrets about that. Cost wise the Rare breed bourbon is the winner. In my area it’s 48 and the single Russell is 67. Great show. Enjoy!!🥃🥃🥃

Hi Scott. Love this idea. I actually did a blind tonight because I wasn't sure what my answer would be. RB is one of my daily sippers but I have RRSB on hand as well. RB was my choice but it wasn't a slam dunk. I love both and they're easy to get here in Ohio. So RB is my choice by a slim margin. Cheers! Looking forward to the next one!

It's got to be the Russell's...I love the anticipation of opening a new bottle. I've never been disappointed with the single barrel. But no disrespect to Rear Bread. I always have an open bottle with a back up on the shelf. Love your channel Scott!
@jasondangelo66593 ай бұрын
I love Russel’s single barrel, it’s always around $80 near me. Wish I could find it at $55. Usually get Rare Breed for the $50 range, lately.
@89sooner4 ай бұрын
If there is a new store pick in town, the decision is easy…the Russell’s, and as I usually have one or two, I don’t think I’ve ever had the shelfer RR. I wonder is those barrels are curated to the same standard as those in the single barrel program? Love me some Rare Breed though….it tends to win the classic RB/1920 face off for me.
@BrianVaughn4 ай бұрын
My preference is Russell's single barrel over the Rare Breed. Unfortunately I can't get the single barrel locally. The newest bottling of Rare Breed is an improvement over the old bottle in my opinion.

Hey buddy, I could definitely do that. Sounds like a fun one. Cheers 🥃

I'm going to enjoy this series. Both available here. I'd have to go with WTRB. I have nothing against RRSB at all, it's always been good. But when both bottles are here (WTRB is currently on the next shopping list), I'll reach for the WTRB more often. Price being $13 cheaper for the WT may play a psychological factor in it also. Cheers Scott!

I am going to say Rare Breed. I have a couple Russel's but no SB. I need to revisit the Russel's I have but I remember I wasn't wowed. I have quite a few Rare Breed bottles that are very good to the point of being exceptional.
