“On the Record,” a documentary that presents the former music executive Drew Dixon’s accusations of sexual harassment and rape against the hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is the fourth major documentary of the #MeToo era to offer an incendiary indictment of men who have used their power within the entertainment industry to commit and cover up patterns of abusive behavior. The filmmakers stop by the Variety Studio at Sundance to talk about making the doc and Oprah's controversial exit from her executive producer role.

Black, white, brown what ever you want to call it, rapist is a rapist, murderer is a murderer and we just have to call it what it is,no matter what your color, gender, religion and all other nonsense.

This is deep. So much pressure on these black women. So brave for them to speak up.

You people who criticize survivors of rape just because the perpetrator is someone you admire, I am praying for your dark twisted souls

Drew Dixon is brilliant. In the film, the way she defines trauma is SO profoundly on point. I can relate on so many levels...especially the withdrawal brought upon by shame...I'm grateful for her courage. I hope she writes a book about how the trajectory of even the brightest star can be altered by trauma.

When I hear about Russell Simmons being a violent rapist I don't think "another dangerous black man " I think Another person of power abusing his position to abuse women. It shouldn't be a race issue. I'm sorry that these women feel pressured to not speak up for fear of being a traitor. That's unfortunate.

Amanda Seales is one of his accusers & talks about in her Rolling Out interview why women wait to speak up. Also didn't know he started relationship with Kimora while she was under age. Another one of his accusers is Lena Horne's granddaughter

I watched the documentary months ago & watched it again last night, but some how missed this interview. As I watch & listen to Drew Dixon I'm thinking to myself... how is it the DNC did not get Drew to host the entire convention?! This woman was born to communicate to all walks of life & make everyone understand the most complex situations and phenomenon. She is a natural speaker, she would slay in politics or most anything she tried her hand at. Watching the convention last few nights I've been wishing they would have brought in SOMEBODY who can speak directly to the nation in a clear & easily understood way. Tonight I'm watching this interview and I was like DAMN...Drew, she is right here, what a difference she could have made! When she mention Trayvon Martin's case & explained the ramifications of their actions to speak out; I teared up, my throat got tight... No one could listen to her speak and misunderstand her point. NO ONE!

You are brave to share your experiences. HBO should expand into a miniseries to include all the accusers experiences.

I'm so sick about these comments. Some of you are so wrapped up in your narrow mindset that y'all can't begin to believe that women can be assaulted outside of the Elizabeth Smarts of the world, and that they can't even be seen outside of their sex parts and its implications. So many disgusting people in this world.
