Watching this has helped me understand why Jokic wanted Rus in Denver. Jokic can get boards if he wants to but that would take a toll to his stamina. This game shows how Adams is just boxing out the opponents rebounder so Rus can get it. Jokic wants to replicate that so that since Rus excels in hustling.

I’ll never understand how people think he’s a stat padder, sure he did a lil at the end of the game but they were already blowing them out and it didn’t matter, this guy will always be there for the rebound and hustle for it and he’ll always find you wide open for an easy basket. Kids these days don’t appreciate anything expect flashy three pointers which I think are boring as fuck
@poiboi471218 күн бұрын
Yeah people say that he shouldn’t be the one getting the rebound but him going for them allows Steven Adam’s to run up the court so he can throw him a lob/pass it to him in the paint.

@showwhite732016 күн бұрын
You just said flashy 3-pointers which are boring. You don't realize that's a contradiction. Russ was 3 for 13 at one point with a high number of turnovers. That really messes up the eventual score. Also, realize that if one player does too much, it hurts the other players' FG %. When other players become less involved, they run around less so when they do get the ball, they have poor shots. This is a concept that Phil Jackson taught MJ and Kobe although Kobe had a hard time with this. In other words, one player can't be too ball dominant.

The most important thing here- 11 assists before he ever scored something for himself… as much as he is disrespected in the twilight of his career, he got many of the rebounds to start the play with the ball in his hands to create, not with the sheer intent to pad stats. If only Russ was efficient from the field and had average turnover numbers, this would've been a dynasty and we could've replicated the 80's. In the 80's there were 3 dynasties (Bird's 5 HoFer Celtics, Showtime Lakers, Bad Boy Pistons), this would have been the third for the 2010's (Stacked Spurs, Cheat Code Warriors).

Since he’s been whooped by Dame in the playoffs and exposed as a stat padder way back in 2019, everyone watching this can now see he just camps out by the basket and steals rebounds instead of playing defense. If you’re a starter, up by 16 with one minute left in the game, you are stat padding, period.
