Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson joins Youth Inc. just weeks after his recent trade from the Seattle Seahawks. Greg and Russell discuss how to balance playing multiple sports at the youth level (31:31), using imagery in parenting and coaching (49:28), and the effect of the language on a child's athletic abilities and skills (58:20).
About the Podcast:
Youth Inc. is a journey into the changing world of youth sports in America, led by Greg Olsen: 14 year NFL veteran and father of 3 young children. Presented by Invisalign.
After a lifetime of sports, Greg finds himself caught in the uncertainty and stress of balancing his experience as the son of a coach and a pro athlete, the responsibility of being a youth coach, and his primary role as a father.
Join Greg on Youth, Inc as he sits down with legacy sports families, coaches, psychologists, authors and more in search of guidance and tools to make the best decisions for his family.

Amazing QB, and most genuine gentleman. Rare these days. One look at some of the hateful comments by those who go through life bashing everyone and everything around them shows that haters will always hate. They make themselves sound small and ignorant by bashing such a talented and humble man. Seattle was fortunate to have Russ as their Hawks Captain and community leader for the time they did. Every (real) 12 should only be wishing Russ well and thanking him for several years of great football, and a Super Bowl. Thank you Russ. All the very best to you in Denver. 🙏

Real 12’s? Lol you probably became a fan in 2013. Real 12’s feel cheated on. He lied his entire time here.

he's literally the most disingenuous person you could ever fathom. Everything is calculated and everything is an act.

I love Greg Olsen, these two have really contagious gentlemen energy. For real wish that everyone has at least one good friend that are as genuine as either of these guys appear to be

Awesome advice on coaching youth. My primary job is working with youth, and developing strategies for coaching and mentoring youth. I have taken away some very good points from Greg and Russell.

It has been determined that of all the NFL picks drafted since 2012, the best and highest approximate value of any player belongs to Seattle with their pick of Russell Wilson in 2012. But if you listen to fools, they will tell you that the defense and Lynch carried him.

Huge contradiction bro, you said you tell your kids parents to cheer for your kids, not against the other kids. While I understand where your coming from, you cannot control what the parents or fans from other teams are gonna do and say towards your kids. I agree that 10 year old kids may not be use to hearing the heckling they might receive. It’s as tho your trying to shield your kids from being heckled by the opp fans. But then you say you told your kid on the way home to get use to it because the heckling only gets worse. Which btw is the advice you should be giving all the kids, and not trying to tell parents or fans how and what to cheer for. When kids play sports, they need to learn to block out the negative from opponents. The kids that can do that will play a long time, the kids that don’t, won’t. You can’t hold their hands forever.
