I respect Cam for bringing calm & common sense to this conversation. He knew what Russ was saying. He also knows that Shannon blew the ish way out of proportion was & out of context. Cam knows & respects Shannon so this is way of respectfully telling Shannon to relax.

Russell Willson part was huge for two reasons!!! 1. HE was the second African-American to win. 2. He was a part of a strong African-American team - defense known as THE LEGION OF BOOMB!

Russell added a different look to NFL quarterbacks who are black men! We call em lame and weird but he has been a great man and wonderful figure to watch. He is a black man with a black family! That says a lot about him. I think Russ goes down on the time line for bringing such class, dignity, and respect for black men.

Shannon was right to call out Russell and put in the historical context. Russell is a part of a long line of African American quarterbacks in the NFL.

Shannon was wrong because he didn’t hear or read the entire quote. Russ paid homage and respect to those before him. He mentioned Doug Williams, noon, Vick any others. Russ played his part to keep the door open for those after him like Cam said.

He didn't open the door but he helped build more trust.. List them alongside each other... Every black quarterback who's been drafted since 2000... Russ is the most decorated and the most successful in terms of championships conference / Super bowls appearances/ MVPs and accolades. I don't think he opened the door... His success allowed GMS to remove a few layers of bias and begin to trust their decisions on drafting black quarterbacks.

Actually Russell Wilson was the first black since Doug Williams to win a Super Bowl and Doug Williams won it in 1988 Russell in 2014 and now half of the NFL teams have Black quarterbacks so maybe Russell has a point

Sounds like shut up n dribble to me :/ Russ isn't even a starting QB anymore, but after he showed what a 5'11" black man could do, 3rd round, rookie contract, is Pat Mahomes not black?! Jalen Hurts? GMs started investing & yes, he was amongst that wave. Believe it or not, you weren't doubt Colin Kap when he was going to the SB or RGIII breaking records, but like I said, THOSE were the days & Russ ain't even a starter anymore, he didn't even get a real contract in Denver & y'all want him to shine over another black QB in Pittsburgh? He's right for what he said, but it's actually a low bar when you think about it. Some other guys have more accolades & can't even comprehend how that applies to the game, cause when you think about it, no other black QB gonna help you out Russ lol, so, idk. Cam Newton is drafted before Russell Wilson. Russell is a yr after Cam. Cam made History as a Rookie more than 1 time. ROY, first Rookie to throw for > 4,000 yds, ever in 2011! Donovan McNabb won a Super Bowls b4 Russell. Cam is the first Black to win the MVP solely in 2015, & OPOY.
