You always make the most in depth, detail oriented QB videos. And what this vid shows is that Russ is still improving. Still shaking off rust. Still learning his teammates and what they do well. Still getting comfortable as the guy. He’s only gonna get better week after week. He’s never gonna be the guy who hits his 3rd read over the middle of the field. He never was. But when he has a running game that must be respected, he will run a good, efficient offense. Not just because the running helps, but it sets up play action, which Russ is extremely good at doing. His deep ball has great touch, and he hasn’t been taking even half the sacks I thought he would. I feel like this team can make a playoff run if he stays healthy and keeps his play elevated.
@mikeakey33586 сағат бұрын
Russ' ability to hit the deep ball has seriously helped Najee find his stride. Hard to put 8 and 9 guys in the box when you know a QB can play-action your ass for a big gainer

I am pleased with Russell's performance thus far. And finally, we actually have a competent passing attack. Being a lifelong Steeler I pretty much hold all our QBs to the standard Roethlisberger gave us. Which is a high standard tbh, nothing Trubisky, Pickett, Rudolph, & Fields even came close to matching. Wilson gives us the closest comparison by far. I still think there's some deficiencies. Like Big Ben's presnap reads and throwing with anticipation. His anticipation was legendary, which is what made so many receivers succeed on our team for so many years. Throws at 8:00 would've been a touch down for Ben. So there's still some areas we can grow at. But I also gotta give Wilson a break. Bro has played 2 game, lol. I imagine he'll settle in and get much better.
@brokeassmopar29767 сағат бұрын
He just needs more time with the recievers. More chemistry will result in the anticipation throw. As far as reads he is doing great rn. I wouldn't call that a downgrade from ben. He is using hard counts to draw the blitz out and been doing a great job at it.

Enjoyed the analysis. 14 trying to jump out of the way at the end of that fumble from Russ had me cracking up. Looked like he was trying to land a flying elbow drop type pro wrestling move 42:05. Pickens is great but gets bambi legs on ice sometimes when he should just run forward.

I don't think any receiver has gotten more big plays reversed by referees than Pickens. There's an alternate universe where Pickens has about 400 more yards and six touchdowns more.

As a Hawks fan, he actually looks like Seattle Russ again. Obviously somewhat slower due to age and the usual wear and tear, but the Steelers actually utilize his strengths. Also he really needed a Doug Baldwin / Tyler Lockett replacement and I think he found it with George Pickens.

Exactly. You give russ a receiver who can do that tyler and doug stuff, but is also an UNDERRATED THREAT downfield and it's over. He's just gotta get his feet down man.

Imagine what #3 & #14 could do with a Z that defenses actually have to account for - or you know - can recognize zone coverage/when to sit in windows. Edit: it's funny how many times he mentions #11 (not by name or number) making the most basic of errors.

Steelers #80 Darnell Washington-TE hasnt struggled in the pass game. I dont think he ever dropped a pass yet. He just so big for a tight end and Steelers love the run, dude is a great blocker too. Steelers primarily use him as a blocker like Bulldogs used him. Russ been grtting him balls tho. Maybe he will have a more significant passing role with Russ under center. Hes listed in the 270s, but pretty sure that boy is 300 lbs or more. Hes not easy to tackle either.

On the playaction post from the 10 Russel throws incomplete, check out the 3 tech (98 or 99)..he rushes, spin moves and then chases the RB on his route...The Giants have no idea what they are doing on D...or they do know what they are doing and it is just dumb.

Steelers got two QBs they can win games with. Dont be surprised after the bye if they start using JF sometimes just to throw off the defense. Russ is giving NFL defenses something to prepare for. I think if they put JF in on special plays, with Russ out there as well, it will throw defenses off wnough for some trick plays.
