This is a very good comparison. Done fairly. I just picked up a used HDS 7 Gen 3 with LSS-2 to replace my Gen 1 unit on the bow. I have a HDS Gen12 with 3D structure scan on the dash. I agree with your statement made in another video about the 3D feature. LOL, the 3D images do indeed suck, however the structure scan images are excellent. Thanks for this very fair and unbiased comparison.

Replaced my lss2 with a 3d transducer over the winter for my hds gen3 9. To me the images are night and day. The 3d ss is a way better picture. Plus I am able to see a clear picture out to 150 ft each side, where as my lss2 reached out to 80 ft before it started to darken out. Worth the money in my opinion. I purchased my unit from Russell Marine - service was outstanding.

When you purchase your lowrance with the 3d transducer and module, you might as well go with the hummingbird mega. Better and clearer resolution and responds way quicker. I have had both and hummingbirds, hands down is better for the money and quality.

Great videos Justin. Question, I have a Gen III HDS12 and still using the LSS1 transducer and the other black box unit that goes with it. Lowrance told me to just leave it wired in instead of the built in module in the Gen III. Should I upgrade to the LSS2 transducer. Thanks

Just installed my lss2 on my gen 3 hds9 and the picture is horrible tried different settings and it's just terrible not sure what's wrong. I leveled it to my boat it's in the water while trolling I'm confused and not impressed after I've got almost 1700 in the stupid unit.

you cannot. it must be a gen3 unit or newer for the 3d features to work.

Not at all. The other video I said the 3d images suck, which they do, but the 3d module and transducer is better on side and down imaging, which is what I state and show in this video.
