The term "Kievan Rus" appeared only in the 19th century, as a designation of the period of time when Kyiv was the capital of the country. Before the revolution of 2014 in Ukraine, almost all countries had their deligations on the Sochi Olympics, the sanctions imposed on the USSR were taken off and there were talks about the visa-free regime between Russia and EU. Heck, Putin and Medvedev considered themselves to be liberals in the beginning of their careers, and they were aligned to the West before 2014.

I think (as a non Russian) in this video should be specified also one thing which is "How Russia established beginning of REAL POWER". I mean, I think that one of the most omitted parts of Russian history in such videos is Russia unification. But why? We are talking about the unification of the Rus lands (although not all of them, because at the beginning, when Moscow united the Rus', it did not unite Kiev and Minsk, which were united some time later after break up of Kievan Rus with Lithuania and later with Poland) through the unification of Moscow, Novgorod, Polotsk, Ryazan, Tver, etc., which was a very important element in the development of Russian power (especially if it goes about money, trade and military) and the beginning of the complete breakdown/conquest/destruction of the former (no longer existing) Mongolian khanates such as Nogai, Crimea, Golden Horde etc. by Ivan IV Terrible (which literally started this by conquering and burning down whole Kazan and taking khan wife and relocate her later to Moscow). Also in those Khanates were living Ugro-Finnic people that helped Russians after they started their conquest. Imo this part of Russian history is very important because shows (also for non Russian people) how important is to stay united and is also important to know for rest of europeans because Russia stopped Mongol Empire to grow even stronger. Who knows? Maybe if not Russians today Germans/French would speak Turkich language (Oh irony, migration politicy do this anyway xd), we know how badly for Roman Empire after barbaric invasions ended up. Same with Poles, they stopped Ottomans from conquering Austria and maybe further Germany, yet seems like no one really remember about this/no one even mention that...

То что народ поддерживал добровольно это советский миф. Конечно были те кто поддерживал советы но реальность полна разочарований. Советы же проиграли эсерам на выборах, рассчитывая на то, что их поддержит большинство, но просчитались. В итоге они просто объявили декрет о роспуске Учредительного собрания (оказывается мнение народа неправильное, а наше правильное). И люди не приходили к мысли, что хотят быть коммунистами, это какое то извращение. А то как шайка коммунистов смогла захватить власть, то она банально использовала массовый террор, даже закреплённый законодательно. А что ты сделаешь против террора? Тут начал работать принцип разделяй и властвуй, и таким образом коммунисты начали своё иго в России

Because press was exclusively state centralized and exchange of information was extremely limited back in the Stalinist USSR days and people had absolutely no clue as to what was _actually_ going on in different distant parts of it or what was the bigger picture of it. It was even easier to fall into propaganda then than nowadays in those conditions.

This is independent from whether the conditions there were horrible or not. Either way, that's something that can be at the very least deduced by historical records investigated decades after decades after the events and then the pieces of the puzzle only get glued together from there on. That's the whole job of historians: They don't rely upon the isolated perspective of a single person or small group of people. But many USSR documents still remain classified to this day, so I guess we'll never know for sure, at least for the tome being. You can thank that to your government's extreme secrecy to _everything_ due to its still authoritarian nature.

Всё могло закончится миром,когда были подписаны минские соглашения. По этим соглашениям донбасс оставался бы в составе Украины с особым статусом и Амнистией ополченцев. Но украина не захотела соблюдать их. Украину США накачивала оружием а ещё Зеленский проявил желание создать ядерную бомбу, России пришлось это прекратить и принудить эту страну к миру.
