Russia is already at its limit. They do not want to provoke a war with NATO. The outcome is already determined. NATO will keep arming and upgrading Ukraine until Russia loses. That has always been the plan. Most say it could come next year.

Russia is not going to gain anything by annexing Ukraine, as they already are self reliant in terms of all natural resources.
