@@bunzeebear2973 Prussia and Saxony, it's a thing, I'm not saying out of ethnic profiling, but when the CCCP fell, many, many Russians stayed behind in East Germany. There are between three million and four million ethnic Russian in the former GDR. This is partly why people like Scholz and the entire SPD frankly are so reluctant to give the aid to Ukraine that other countries of its stature, population, and economic clout do. And add to that, German resource extraction companies went "all-in" on foreign direct investment in Russia after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Germany is not a friendly country to Ukraine. They have given, yes, but just enough to barely save face amongst their NATO allies, and even that sometimes has had to be dragged out tooth and nail. I always call the US, no disrespect to any individual Americans here, the "United States of Amnesia", because our of all the Western liberal democracies, they just don't seem to know, or have much interest, in history, not the history of the world, or not even their history, except for broad stroke tropes. My sister-in-law in from Montana, she and her family are very prime examples, and I'm not mocking them, I'm just being frank and factual. I've pondered why this is very often. I live in Saskatchewan, that culturally is very close to Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming, much closer than we are to, say, Ontario, Québec, or the Maritimes, yet people generally know history here, they know what our grand-parents and great-grandparents fought for, they know Russia's persistent thirst for empire (especially because we have the highest concentration of ethnic Ukrainians on the planet other than southern Polska, right-wing, left-wing, EVERYBODY supports Ukraine here!). I don't know what it is, is it that American Exceptionalism thing that maybe makes people thing in insular ways, like who cares what happen outside of the States, which leads to who cares what has happened in the past? I would love to know, it's perplexed me for years, and I don't think it is a personal bias because other Canadians I know have commented on the same phenomena, this United States of Amnesia thing where some people don't seem to ponder anything that's happened more than ten minutes ago, and with that sometimes don't consider anything past ten minutes in the future. Of course I am making gross generalizations, I'm not saying every American is like this, but the tendency is impossible not to notice. Maybe it's a lack of civics and history education in high schools? I'm just not sure, I'd love to here other's opinions though, and again, no insults are meant by me, just my personal observation over many years.

Brit here. Dear Jake, your regular updates are at least one voice of sanity left in the world in these troubled times. It was very useful to have the current US political scene explained, as we're going to be living under its shadow for the next four years, who knows, even longer, maybe. And we needed to have the lowdown on some of these horrific nominations.

Tulsi being appointed dni scares the crap out of me. She called japan our enemy when they started sending aid to ukraine. I hope theres enough senators to put a stop to it.

The confirmation hearings will be spicy. The senate proved they have no intention of bowing to Trump with his senate leader pick being ousted in first round elections and then John Thune winning. They will not do recess appointments, they will not let bad picks get through with Thune at the helm. He was McConnells right-hand man.

Soleimani was the kingpin of Iran's terror groups throughout the region. His assassination was very disruptive to Iran's proxy war efforts.

And yet, it was an act of terror, which enraged Iranians and put these people on a massive rocket and drones production roadmap. Now we face armies of 140 million Russians combined with 80-90 million Iranians united. Every world leader: British prime minister, French president, German chancellor asked Trump to not to ignore the progress Iran made toward international community. He pushed them over the edge.
