Russia's Aleksandr Golovin | Tactical Profile

Aleksandr Golovin won the UEFA under 17 European Championship with Russia back in 2013 and he’s been a star in the making ever since. Although, not a guaranteed starter in the Russian midfield, this World Cup could be the moment that Golovin announces himself to a wider audience.
He has the skill set and in front of a partisan home crowd, if he replicates his CSKA form, he will surely become one of Europe’s hottest midfield properties.
Aleksandr Golovin has been excellent this season for CSKA Moscow as they finished runners-up to city rivals Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League. Golovin scored five league goals, behind Vitinho with 10, and Fedor Chalov and Ahmed Musa with six, including a superb counter-attacking solo effort against Arsenal Tula in a 6-0 home win. He netted twice in the Europa League, a free kick against Arsenal and a lovely curling effort from the edge of the area against Lyon. He also managed three league assists and, perhaps a little less impressively, topped CSKA’s yellow cards chart with eight.
