Barely a week after taking oath for the 5th time, President Vladimir Putin replaced his defence minister Sergei Shoigu, the longest serving member of his Cabinet.
65-year-old Andrei Belousov, an economics expert who has never dealt with the military will be the new defence minister of Russia. The rare Kremlin shake-up took place as the Russian offensive in northeastern Ukraine has been making gains. In the latest, Russia pounded over 30 villages in Kharkiv , forcing 6,000 to evacuate.

Shoigu is the Russian equivalent of the National Security Advisor Stupid. He hasnt been demoted or removed he has a new role which is even more encompassing with his purview over the FSB, law enforcement agencies as well as the military. Its a bigger role than Defense. You know what the NSA is in America right? He is the advisor to the President and remains with him in the Kremlin now in Moscow without having to go out to the battlefield anymore.
