While we are on the topic of Russia, Shekarji, I think you should re-evaluate who handles the long form shows about Foreign Policy at the Print. The style, manner and conduct of Interviews and Debates has devolved into cacophony and badgering. The interview with FM of Sri Lanka and the Debate between C Raja Mohan and Sanjaya Baru were particular low points. Case in point: When a Foreign Minister of a country says "it is a domestic matter", badgering him after that statement for a response is irresponsible and detrimental to the national interests of both countries (starts an unnecessary diplomatic incident). One wonders why is the host forcing such a response?
@zetaforever4953 Жыл бұрын
Wut??? How can a journalist asking questions be a diplomatic incident? Just because he's a foreign minister doesn't mean he can't lie and evade to make himself/his govt look better. All Pakistani ministers say the same nonsense (domestic matter) whenever questioned about minorities being abused in their country. I don't see anyone defending their right to domestic privacy, then. Newsflash: politicians can lie, both on the national and international forums. You can keep badgering them to get at the truth.

You forget to mention that russia's debt to gdp is so low and their government rarely depends on borrowing for their budget, compare it to india where 35% of budget comes from borrowing and percentage is much higher in case of America. So, it is easy for russia to hike rates by 400 basis points, as it will not effect the budget much. Some people really think that russia economy is really weak but following a prudent economic policy is a sign of weakness then let it be, atleast they are not creating growth by just printing the money.

that has nothing to do with what Fed interest rates do. Russian can't borrow money, they have no access to outside bond markets. Shekhar-ji...for the first time I found a bit of insight and research lacking in this episode. The Russians are not being forced to defend. They have chosen to defend the territory - with 3 intricate lines of defence - they have captured in the Donbass. And the Ukrainians are not making gains every day as you imply. I would venture to say you may be following more of the Western mainstream media to get news on the conflict. The forex reserves you have indicated are not discounted for the US$ 284 billion frozen by USA and NATO. Wrongfully or rightfully is another debate. There is a strong parallel - cash - economy running in Russia. Would make a fair estimate to say it is around 35% of the total - formal + informal - which would make it very sizeable. You can do the math. So far the summer resorts are full, flights to Dubai/Egypt/Turkey/Thailand are all full, markets are stacked and the sanctions are yet to pinch the common man. No doubt the Chinese are watching closely like a hungry predator waiting to move with dirty investments but the Russians are yet not foolish to get into the debt trap. @pradeepsen356 Welcome to the club! We have been saying the same thing for a while. Shekhar only reads and follows western liberal think tanks. He says, "Putin thought that he would defeat Ukraine in 3 days!" which is a favorite talking point of the western media. Which isn't true. No aggressor has ever come in with 1,40,000 troops when the victim has a 7,50,000 strong NATO trained & equipped army. That ratio is insurmountable! It looked like Putin came with aggression to hopefully find a negotiator like he did previously with the Minsk accords; all he got was a comedian western puppet. Shekhar keeps saying Putin is trying to maintain a facade of no war. Russians are not dumb, Putin's speeches to them are objective and not filled with quotable quotes like Biden. They know what is goin on and that this is a war for their survival as NATO is right at their doorstep. And the exodus is good for them because now the ones inside Russia are fully supportive of Putin. Coming to the economy; small hiccups are to be expected during war. Even the great British empire broke down by the end of WWII...even after stealing 45 trillion from us. But Putin has planned well, timed it well and now with the upcoming BRICS currency, dollar is finally seeing their bullying days coming to an end. Shekhar will have to eat his notes by the end of this war. Enjoy your travels in Russia 🤘

GDP includes Gov't spending. It is not surprising that Russia's GDP is growing because they spent through all their war chest reserves and are now deficit spending in huge amounts on the war. Gov't spending is great when it includes education, roads, bridges, airports and things that will help the economy grow in the future. But Gov't spending is bad when it is mostly equipment that is being destroyed in Ukraine. If you build a school for $5 million dollars that will educate young people for 30 years, that is a good spend...... when you spend $5 million dollars on a tank that goes to Ukraine and is destroyed in a month, that is not a good spend. Russia started this war with $700 billion in the bank.... $350 of it was immediately seized because Putin stored it in western banks (not a genius move), and since then, the remaining $350 was used up in June 2023. Why did Wagner drop out of the war in June? no more contract. All the crazy mutiny stuff came after that, but the fact is Wagner retreated out of Bahkmut because their contract ended on June 1st, and they stopped being paid by Russia.

The indian americans are useless to india. They do not exert any pressure which benefits india and they have basically wasted national resources on their training and now are fuelling the American/western economy. Do you know about the coup in chile? US removed a democratically elected government and killed it's general and president. And replaced with a us puppet. All because it was a socialist government. Now I'm not a huge fan of socialism but it is none of my business what other people do with their country. Similarly, ukrainian president was removed by a us led coup in 2014. The so-called maidan protests. It resulted with an us puppet zelensky and a free reign to Ukrianian neo nazis. And they were shelling east Ukraine since 2014. No western media gave much attention. Civilians being bombed, women being snatched, tortured, raped, eats cut off and killed. All because they spoke Russian. There are European journalists who made documentaries but the media organizations did not want to show much of that. You can look up videos of 7-9 years ago about Ukraine. It's all there. You want this kind of world leader? Just admit it, you don't know anything about geopolitics and the reality of the world. Don't follow mainstream media blindly. You're the kind of person who will vote for kamala Harris because she made a video making idli like the rest of the indian American morons.

Russia is an ENERGY superpower. The US and EU need to keep it afloat to avoid a 1979 oil crisis-like situation. Russia is also Europe's most populous country (despite its slow growth or aging). It's a very resilient economy. Qatar has also used sanctions to its advantage.

Meanwhile Russia said that it'll finally deliver the remaining S-400 systems to India shortly. Is the efficiency of the system accessed this past few months since war is arriving closer to Moscow?

@@CosmicValkyrie Bro. No air defense is perfect. Patriot has knocked down some Kinzhals. Others break through. Same with the S-400. Ukraine is still able to penetrate Russian airspace even with all the Russian air defenses up. They actually managed to hit one of the S-400 radars a few days ago.

this channel should promote peace in subcontinent, advocate Indian soldiers throw their hands up whenever and where ever meet neighbor countries soldiers, in doing so can lift Indian living standard. look what happened in India: 60-70 percent of Indian family can only afford one meal a day which is worse than North Korea. what point for India soldiers to fight against neighbor countries and keep that poverty intact? Indian living standard even lower than Bhutan. India need to outsource Indian politicians rather than other way around. or India soldiers should chase them out, let neighbor countries government to rule India would be a good idea. then India would become a super power. as a matter of fact, many Indian don't want to be Indian, that is why they gone to America, uk, Canada. want to be ruled by other countries government. instead of going abroad and ruled by other countries government, it's better do it at home and stay at home and ruled by other countries government at home.

Fact is Russian economy is doing much better than all predictions... Secondly on the war front the Russians are "not being forced to defend territory" ... the Russians have built well planned defence lines forcing UKR to attack and loose men and NATO supplied machines in large numbers in a war of attrition ...That is why the Ukranians have been unable to breakthrough Russian lines ... this strategy is perfectly in alignment with achieving the goals of the SMO - destroy UKRs army and ability to wage war & hurt NATO as much as possible besides battle testing counter measures and tactics against the best NATO equipment
@richier8898 Жыл бұрын
But in all reality NATO has spending less than 1% of their combined GDP on this war. They could keep this pace up endlessly. Sure Ukraine is doing bulk of the work and taking the losses on their economy and manpower. But they've transitioned to wartime and aren't even trying to run normal economy and there isn't any real signs of Ukraine giving up. Rubble is falling, russian arms exports are falling and deals in Yuan and Indias Rupee are getting more expensive. On the battlefield situation seems pretty frozen, both sides being unable to make any significant moves. Personally I don't see this conflict ending in a long time, both sides being able to out produce their military losses at will.
@CosmicValkyrie Жыл бұрын
@@richier8898hogwash. Western economies are collapsing. German industrial sector just collapsed. USA is hoping to up their artillery shell production to 12,000 per day in 2-3 years. Meanwhile Russia is firing 60,000 shells every single day. And their industries are working full time and supply their armed forces. This is a game of chicken, the West will lose it's elected governments before Russia stops. Next year when Biden is replaced, there is hope for ukraine. If they agree to Russian terms they might get most of the country. If they keep fighting, they'll lose Kiev eventually. And Russia can keep this up forever.
