Long time no see my friends. I did the most epic collaboration when visiting South Korea in Oct 2022. My friend @VictorTalking and I, went to the Korean markets to do some fun filming. What ended up happening was us having an amazing time speaking Japanese, Chinese and Korean of course, and people around us going NUTS when we spoke them.
Victor already released his version of this video, so I'm adding my perspective to my version, which I'm sure you will absolutely love. His version has footage and things that mine doesn't so be sure to check that out as well!
• They SHOCKED the Whole...

Two genuine polyglots just having a good time- I love it!! I just discovered your channel and you posted a video right away. Do you have tips on learning dialets like Kansaiben or Busan Satoori? I love that you didn't just go for learning the standard accents and have been immersing in some local shows/radio, but I don't have chances to travel and live in those regions. Please advise and cheers! :)
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei Жыл бұрын
Yo airi. I have a couple of videos where I focus on the Busan dialect, and have some links there to the materials I used. Kansai Ben materials should be in my how I learned Japanese vids, check em out. I used materials from Japan to learn both Busan satoori, and Kansai Ben. Watch a ton of media in both languages on Netflix and KZbin, and made friends from those regions online. I lived in Kansai, but never in Busan and my Busan satoori is better I think 🤣 You already got the idea, so just find good materials and don't stop 💪

@@AdanSensei Thanks for the detailed reply! I appreciate it :)) I see the Japanese Busan Satoori book but not the Kansai Ben one, but it's okay! Question: Did you use Anki sentence cards for learning dialects too, and if so, did you include audio?
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei Жыл бұрын
Here's the Osaka-ben one, with audio which is important. This Kyoto-ben series also complements it very well, since kyoto-ben and osaka-ben have similarities. www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/%E5%B2%A1%E6%9C%AC-%E7%89%A7%E5%AD%90/dp/489476296X/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3LMN6QAWVH4DD&keywords=%E5%A4%A7%E9%98%AA%E5%BC%81&qid=1674935515&sprefix=%E5%A4%A7%E9%98%AA%E5%BC%81%2Caps%2C105&sr=8-2 www.amazon.co.jp/-/en/More-Kyoto-Kobayo-Spring-Included/dp/B000I0S68U/ref=sr_1_13?crid=1FQPOSM8H0J8G&keywords=%E4%BA%AC%E9%83%BD%E5%BC%81&qid=1674935569&sprefix=%E4%BA%AC%E9%83%BD%E5%BC%81%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-13 I made some crappy decks for the busan book with scanning the books and image oclussion, just to practice the grammar output but not the audio, since it would be so much work to include it. I just listen to the mp3s in the books separately on repeat. Good enough ^^ Good luck Airi!

6:08 is a cool little detail - I’ve always postulated (after a few years of living around Mandarin speakers) that “wow” and “damn” have essentially been imported into colloquial Mandarin Chinese as loan words. I don’t speak, but the fact that the flag didn’t change at the indicated time marker may indicate this. [EDIT: my logic is now invalidated by the simple fact that “Wow” and “Damn” are translated from the verbal Chinese in the video.] Obviously, native speakers and learners are free to correct me if this is wrong. I’m also very curious about how differently Chinese and Japanese insert foreign, non-CJK words into their sentences - not only from a grammatical/lexical point of view but also in terms of speech and pronunciation. JP seems to render in katakana (lexically) and JP syllables (verbally), while the Mandarin speakers I’ve heard seem to prefer to just straight up say the word’s original pronunciation.
@AdanSensei
@AdanSensei 2 ай бұрын
Great comment official, for my translations I don't do word for word and my Chinese has a lot to desire for so don't considerate perfectly accurate. Chinese as far as I know mandarin has their own damn and wow, and Cantonese as well but they casually insert the English word in mid sentence with it's full pronunciation . Let's see if someone else comments more details 😊
