Actually the Narva tank was removed on 15th august. It went to a war museum.
@martinkaos41022 жыл бұрын
@@iPedroMota Long story short: Because of what's going on between Russia and Ukraine (now Russia and Europe basically), Estonia decided to take this tank down and put it away in history museum. Narva locals were absolutely furious (Russian minded locals). They were guarding it day and night but eventually they couldnt stop it from happening. Ever since it was gone, these people started to lay flowers and candles and now this pedestal is fully coveres with those. AND what's more interesting is that Russia found out that Estonia took their tank away so they decided to put the same tank (replica) on their own side of the river as a payback.

I had a good friend and colleague from Estonia. His home was a farm near Narva. He was able to go back after 1992 and see his old home.

Current Narva is not "old skool Estonia", Narva used to be a beautiful Baroque city until it was completely flattened by the ruskies in WWII. Only part of the castle was restored later. The original population either fled or was killed. Its a bloody shame.
@iPedroMota2 жыл бұрын
Yeah WWII and historic centers didn't really go well together. Looked up some pictures, looked like a nice Baltic city back then, shame indeed.

Yeh...people indeed, 85%-90% of Russians are fully in favor of war against Ukraine...people indeed... You westerners still don't understand who it is. Putin and his associates do not kill or rape in Ukraine, it is done by Russian people, Russians... It is in their nature to kill and destroy, their envy of others and the opinion that they are a great nation, the chosen ones, etc.

Mr. Pedro, it is great that you have such an opinion about how nice people of russia are. And that they all seemingly have nothing in common with their politicians. I have been to that country many times. But right now there's hundreds of thousands those nice people on my land with weapons killing my people and many more in russia supporting them, launching ballistic missiles from far ends of their country continuosly and enjoying what they are doing. I also got close relatives in st. Petersburg who tell me that it's a really good thing they do killing us Ukrainians. And those are people (I'm not sure they are human beings) with a university degree. You can visit Ukraine instead of rusia and see what those nice people have already done. Hundreds of cities and villages are destroyed completely because of bombs and rockets. I agree, it is much easier not to think about negative things. Just see only good and have fan. Unfortunately we can't. It's tragedy and struggling each and every moment in my country. But we win.

cheers from Tallinn - few months later u visited the Tank, goverment came and took the friking thing in 24h- It was a massive local news material like 2 months ago. Local "Russians" (Estonian citizens with grey passport) where not so pleased about it. Long story short - after the war started, goverment have removed/ will remove hundreds of soviet monuments. The whole thing is the biggest problem in Estonian society - the massive gap between Estonians and local Russian speaking citizens who most of them refuse to even start learning Estonian language. There is too much pain in the peoples blood since the second world war. Me personally Im not on either side - no time for hate, in fact Im learning russian language, so I could start employing Ukranians as a kitchen installers - extremely motivated skilled workers. I do not feel bad they took the Tank away - in long term perspective, it should make the proccess of integrating two very different cultures together abit faster. But it will take time, like another generation needs to grow up from now atleast.

Not being rude but you answered your own question regards Estonia Language and Russian. I am British and in my business in the Maritime Exploration sector English and Russian are valuable languages for business. 20 countries speak Russian including Ukraine as you say. Estonia only has a tiny population and thus Estonia is similar to Welsh (in the UK). As you say from a business perspective it is far more financially beneficial to learn English if you are a Russian speaking family if you are part of the European Union. As you see the Dutch guys speak English and can communicate with most people here in this video. So having spent a lot of time in Estonia I found far more people can speak Russian or English. While it's ok to have a national language etc. Realistically Estonian nationalists need to calm down on this "ooh they do not speak our minority EU language" it's the same in Wales....but the Welsh are less aggressive when it comes to Welsh speaking English. Pragmatically it's better for all Estonians to think less emotionally and more with a bit of common sense.
