Costume was not originally used the way it is commonly referred to now. This would be considered a costume.

@@МёртваяДуша-х4ш I think it’s because “costume” is like a word people use to refer to Halloween costumes etc,and that person was trying to say that it would be more appropriate using the sentence “traditional wear” than “costume”. Kinda makes sense, for example, the words “intelligent” and “intelectual”, are not the same thing, just like costume and traditional wear, because costume is a like a one-day-to-go, and something that’s not valuable ( a Halloween/carnival costume isnt valuable), while traditional clothes from all around the world are sacred with their own meanings and they are very important and essencial for the understanding of worlds history and culture, and even though they are not used daily in this modern society (some people still use), traditional wear represented (still do) people’s way of living and expressing
