Fun fact; in Serbia we call Olivier salad a Russian salad. Urban legend is that Russian emigration after the revolution, brought recipe and popularize same in 1920’s. And it is also considered a holiday dish, cause there is no birthday, new year, or any other formal event that you can not imagine to be without Russian salad now in Serbia lol Greetings and all the best!

@@nevagerber2434 Sorry for late answer, but most popular salads for special accessions can vary from what time of year is. But I will try to name some: Russian (Olivier) salad, Mimoza Salad, Tarator salad, also all salad known as garden salads, Serbian, Shopska (Шопска), Greek one and popular winter salads are sour cabbage with Aleva (grinded hot) paprika, turshiа (туршиа) that is collection of pickled vegetables. Then Ajvar and variations like pindjur and malidzano, or ljutenica, those are all winter salads from jar, based on paprika. One more is roasted paprika's with garlic in oil, known as белолучене паприке. You can find something that is not really a salad, but we call that one a salad, and that is Urnebes salad, literally means hilarious salad, it is made from old white cheese that is mashed with some garlic, ajvar and grinded aleva paprika, it is more like some kind of cream cheese with spicy and hot taste, but good for meat and bread spread. We also love to put on the roast and meat a grinded Ren (Armoracia rusticana) or horseradish, it is also very spicy. And individual salads are always present like green salad, cabbage, cabbage with carrots or some other variations. Hope I help with some information's. Greetings from Serbia or

Nice vid and your English is great. Just a small but significant mistake. "Bakeries' is the plural of the place where bread and other baked goods are made. We'd probably say 'baked goods' for a section of bread, pastry and stuff, although maybe the average American would just say 'bread' or 'breads and rolls'.

These "innocent women and children", like their men, consciously chose the path of betrayal, the path of Nazism and fierce Russophobia! Now they are paying for their corrupt apostasy from their Russian blood, from our common ancestors, from history and the Orthodox faith for the sake of Western handouts. Until they repent for their sin of betrayal, until they atone for the blood, they have no right to hope for forgiveness! Residents of Ukraine get exactly what they deserve!

In Texas we call that a Cafeteria. Most schools have a cafeteria but with possibly only a single option for each part of the meal. Growing up my family went to a cafeteria restaurant called Luby's and it had a very similar layout. Usually the Salad section is first, then the main course, side dishes like steamed vegetables, mashed potato or mac and cheese then bread and dessert then your drink is the last choice.

It is quite possible that the "homeland" of Russian canteens is from the USA. The fact is that this format of catering was originally common in factories. In the 30s of the last century, americans built hundreds or even thousands of factories in the USSR. Only the firm of the famous industrial architect Albert Kahn from the USA designed 521 objects for the USSR in 1929-1932. The Stalingrad, Chelyabinsk and Kharkov tractor plants and aircraft factories in Kramatorsk and Tomsk were built according to american drawings and with american equipment. So most likely, our "stolovaya" and your "cafeteria" are cousins.
