Russian Bashushkas and Dedushkas are the best. My wife's are sadly no longer with us, but we remember them with love and respect. Dedushka was in the siege of Moscow when he was 14 years old working in a factory.

It must be wonderful to have a grandmother who is the hub of your family wheel. My grandmother was an alcoholic, she was abusive and stole from my father and spent time in prison for fraud for stealing from other people's mail. I have few good memories of Grandma Brown. She was a horrible person, but I loved her the best I could.
